There is some awesome videos showing the basics to get started plus Singer has a YT to watch. Don't waist your money on bobbin thread I got all the colors and have used them very few times in the 15 years I've had machines. I just use the top thread in the bobbins. It's great fun and I love to put names on gifts for thing, watching their faces is priceless. A friend of mine is going to be a grandmother so I put the baby name on 2 blankets and she was over the moon to open the gifts. I enjoy the grandkids coming over with stuff for me to embroidery on for them, kids can come up with some crazy thing but as a granny it is my job, that I love, and watch the faces light up as the machine does it's job for them. I don't walk and this gives me stuff to do and not think about my health. When you retire I know where you will be and what you will be doing. Trick or treat tote bags with the name is a big hit. So sit back and enjoy your crafting as this add a new level to your crafting. Like you I have an awesome hubby and he likes me to put stuff on his hats. I think you will love this machine. I recently purchased a Bernina Embroidery Machine. I had no idea there would be such a learning curve. It’s definitely more complex than I was hoping it would be. I have had more frustration than fun with it. I can’t wait to see what you create I am sure you will get the hang of it quickly.

Congratulations Deanna! It's a great machine! I had an older Janome embroidery only machine, but I sold it. I did learn some tips... let me share an important one: The biggest thing you need to get right is the tightness of the fabric in your hoop. If it loosens even a tiny bit, you may have trouble. I found that a lightweight iron- on woven interfacing worked better for me. Even though it needed to be cut away, but you will find out if your machine is really sensitive. Also, certain fabrics like denim and dish towels are trouble for beginners. They are thick, and can stretch out while stitching. If you start with quilting cotton, you will do better until you are comfortable. Have fun!❤

I want to learn to use a sewing machine and an embroidery machine but I’m visually impaired and I’m afraid I won’t be able to see to thread it. However I love watching all your videos because you have such a peaceful spirit about you and watching your videos is fun and calming to me. The first video of yours I watched two or more years ago was the one where you made the ribbon keychain with the beads and that’s why I started making them. So then I watched more videos and tried more new stuff and love it.

Have fun with your new machine, I would suggest you binge watch anything on machine embroidery here on YT it will help massively before you start. I did that before i bought my first embroidery machine several years ago. I have a combined sewing/embroidery machine but mine is a Brother, you dont have to remove the embroidery arm to use the machine for regular sewing (well you dont on a Brother anyway) yours should be the same. Also make sure you have the correct bobbin fill thread, you cannot use regular sewing thread for embroidery or bobbin embroidery. I have a sewing playlist on my channel which has my sewing and embroidery projects if you want a starting point. All these machine more or less do the same thing even if they are different manufacturers. I would strongly suggest you have a good think what you want to make to ensure that your hoop size is right for you especially as you have the 90 day return policy. Have fun from a UK viewer.

@@CraftyCraftsByDeanna I am sure you will have fun. One thing I thought I would mention is that most embroidery designs are made for either a 4x4 or 5 x 7 hoop and larger. I thought I heard you say your hoop is 6 x 4 that would definitely restrict you to the size of designs you could purchase to stitch with your machine I don’t think designs made for a 5 x 7 hoop would work in your hoop therefore you would be restricted to only designs available for a 4x4 hoop. Hope that makes sense. If you only want to use your machine to stitch the fonts or the designs that are on your machine, then you will be fine, but you definitely need to research, what size stitch files are that you may want to purchase? They all normally always tell you in the blurb before you purchase what size minimum hoop you need? Hope that helps.
