Just bought 2 ourselves for exactly the same reason. Cheaper than rack for bike and towbar. Shove it in the boot then off you go. Look forward to your video of your ride and using it. Once folded you can use seat and wheel bike along. It's not a Brompton but great value for money

Looks like the newer versions are lighter with alloy frames and a quoted weight of 12.9 ! Only thing I do not like so much is the lack of full adjustability on the bars . maybe buy some straight bars to lower the height rather than the riser ones.
@JohnonaBike Жыл бұрын
Being lighter would be great as it would make them even more agile and easier to carry. Yeah the handle bars are set as they are but maybe that's a sacrifice for being foldable and cheaper than others. Wonder if the likes of Bromptons have more adjustment 🤔

I have a secondhand one I'm happy with, a few things, it could do with another low gear, you won't get up past 12/15mph but more important is the seat post, if you leave it at a fixed height for a long time it will seize up and a nightmare to loosen again and the hight of the handlebars can't be changed, all the same, it's a cracking little bike for the money.
@JohnonaBike4 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are excellent little bikes. I lower our seats all the time to get them in and out the car so not had the problem with the seat and lucky for us the handlebars are just right. I keep putting the bike at the wrong angle when using the stand and have damaged my bike and Katie's but not bad just scapes on the seats and I made a small slit on the end of my handlebars. I personally have not found any problems with the gears but we just potter around but they can move quite quick when needed
@HDsharp2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean you can do with an extra higher gear? Higher gear makes you go faster, whereas lower gear will make you go slower but better for hills.

Hi, first of all this is a great video. I am really considering buying this bike however I am embarassed to admit that I am a beginner and want to learn to ride a bike and this foldable would be great as I have minimum storage in the house. I just wanted to ask if this bike would be ok for someone to learn how to ride a bike on? Thank you!
@JohnonaBike3 жыл бұрын
Hello and Thank you 😀 - Don't be embarrassed that you are a beginner we all had to learn and you really never stop learning anyway especially today with new bikes and gear coming out all the time. The Tilt 120 is a brilliant bike and is very easy to ride. These bikes are very forgiving as they have small wheels so are easier in my experience to Ballance on and get going. They also have very small turning circles which is good but you would have to be careful as they turn very quickly so that might catch you off guard. If you do buy one of these go somewhere quiet on grass and please make sure you wear a helmet and practice so if you do fall you hopefully wont hurt yourself to much. You could get a friend to hold the seat to balance you to get you going but that is up to you. I know my son when he started he did not want our help and he just went and did it on his own. Once you find your balance you will then be set and after that its just refining your skill and getting confidence and then its all FUN from there. Please be patient when you are learning it may take time but it is worth it - Good luck

Hi John. Can you tell me how’s the tyre/tube performance. Have you had any punctures ? I need to know if the tube is self repairing or not. Also how often do you have to inflate the tyres?
@JohnonaBike3 жыл бұрын
Hello - Yes we had had one puncture but it was easy to repair as I removed the tyre without needing tyre levers. But that has been the only puncture and as you can see from my videos we have use the bikes a lot. The tubes are not self sealing but you could put a slime-tube in yourself or add the slime solution to the tube. I have not inflated the tyres much at all to be honest. I do check them before every ride but they are usually OK

Is it suitable for long distance travel( 300-400 km) in hilly areas?
@JohnonaBike3 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for your question - Are you doing the ride in one go or over a few days ? The Tilt 120 is a really nice comfortable bike to ride with a really nice seat and its a joy to ride. You only have 6 gears but Katie and I found the bikes really good on hills and Katie would be the first person to say she is not good on hills. I think some of that is down to the riding position because you are very upright sitting position it kind of makes hills a little easier if that makes sense

@@JohnonaBike Thanks for your reply. I have a wish to travel for 4-5 days, about 30-40 km per day in the Darjeeling Himalayas area. We have had the bikes a while now and folded and unfolded the pedals many time and we have had no problems at all with the pedals. @@JohnonaBike Thank you. And yes, I am very happy with my bike. Unfortunately, due to the weather, I haven't ridden it as often as I would like. I would say the only flaw it has so far is that the gear shifter takes up too much space on the handlebars, so I have to hold it all the time and it's not very comfortable, but it's a detail I'll get used to soon I guess. I will check the slime-type tubes you suggest. Thank you!

Thanks for uploading these videos. I spotted this on the Decathlon site and signed up to be notified when it came into stock. The red version was in stock as of this morning so I found you while looking for reassurance that it's worth having. I've paid an extra £20 for a carrier but wonder if a handlebar-mounted bag would have been more useful. Are you still enjoying yours? Have you had any issues? Thanks again.
@JohnonaBike4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I will be totally honest with you.... Buying the Tilt 120 was one of the BEST decisions I we have made. We love them. The only small problem I had with mine was I broke the little catch on the back where you fold the two halves together and it clips together. But it was most likely my fault being to rough and it has no effect at all on the bike or using it. Also watch out when using the stand I have had my bike and Katie's fall over a few times as the bikes are a little top heavy for the location of the stand. We got the little bag for the handlebars and its brilliant but you could use both if you wanted and the bag is only £10. When I ordered my bikes it was right when there was a HUGE rush on bikes and I had to wait until 11pm and order as quick as possible. I ordered but forgot the bag and could not add it later so went to a decathlon shop for it. I promise you that you will LOVE your bike. Its completely different to other bikes and its so much fun like being a kid again. They are very agile, pretty fast and pretty good on hills to. We also got lots of admiration for ours when out and about

@@JohnonaBike Hello again. I thought I'd come back and share my impressions. The bike arrived a day earlier than the estimate and there were no issues with the delivery. I was shocked that the box was so heavy but this was largely down to the weight of the rack that I'd added to the order. I should have read reviews of the rack as some complain about its weight. I'll almost certainly try to return the rack. I ordered the handlebar bag separately and this seems more than adequate for most purposes. There was a small piece of black-painted metal loose in the box and I soon realised that this was part of the catch for holding the folded sections together. The metal seems so flimsy that it would have been only a matter of time before it broke anyway. I think I'll look at getting a strap or bungee cord for holding the folded bike together. Annoyances aside, actually using the bike is what matters and this has been mostly positive. I enjoyed riding it so much that a two mile hop to a nearby country park turned into a 19 mile ride and I needed to use the lights because I was out longer than planned. I'd want better lights if I were regularly riding in the dark. The gears have a reasonable range and I honestly believe that hills that were hard work would not have been much easier on my old hybrid. Annoyingly, I had a puncture the next day. Fortunately I was only a mile or so from home but it's bad luck after only 25 miles of use. Spare inner tubes are on order and I'll investigate the cause when they arrive. I think the back wheel is going to be hard to remove without first taking off the clip that holds the folded bike together. Therefore, it's a good idea to keep an Allen key to hand, not just a spanner. Annoyances aside, it's a nice bike for the money and ideal for pootling about or throwing into the car so maybe this is just a roundabout way of saying I agree with your own findings. I originally spotted the Tilt 120 while looking for an ebike which is now on order so after not having a new bike for 20 years, I've bought two in less than a week! Happy cycling!
@JohnonaBike4 жыл бұрын
Hello Stephen - that is an excellent honest review. Yeah we have the handlebar bag just on Katie's bike and it works great. She has carried loads in it with no issues and for £10 its good value. The black little catch you mentioned is weak and part of it has broken off on my bike but Katie's is still OK. But its no big deal and I don't really need it. Might be different if I wanted to transport the bike further and speaking of that we are going to get some bags for ours from ebay to put the bikes in to keep the car a bit cleaner when the bikes are dirty. I know exactly what you mean about going further than you expect. In the summer we went for a small ride and we ended up going on a 22 mile ride which was a long ride for Katie. But these bikes are great fun and you will love it the more you use it. I have just done another ride with Katie on the foldable bikes and I will post that video soon

Looks like a low grade Shimano compatible rear derailleur rather than Shimano and I've heard these bikes can have problems with the bottom bracket although not sure what is fitted. Doesn't seem long ago these were £20-30 cheaper but that's pandemic pricing I guess. Two issues are I don't think the stem is height adjustable so getting a good bike fit can be difficult as the handlebars I think are a set height. Also with a freewheel and such small wheels the bikes are very low geared as the freewheel only starts at 14T so they can be very slow bikes but easy on the hills. Both are common criticisms to a lot of entry level folding bikes.
@JohnonaBike4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I haven't checked but I don't think the handlebars will adjust but they are fine for me at 5" 10 and Katie at 5" 8. Not sure about bottom bracket but I will replace when needed as I have done many including my Canyon which went after only 14000 miles. These are low geared you are right but they are still nippy and great fun
