That level of quality, along with the amount of die-cast work, reminds me of the wonderful days when Japanese toys were coming over here in 78/79 (thanks to Star Wars.) MAN, do I miss going into JCPenney and seeing that display case of WONDERS. GREAT video! And thanks for helping me remember those times.

I wanted a collectable Voltron. I have the TrendMasters die-cast from when I was a kid. I picked up the Playmates version a few years ago. I have the Super Mini Pla model kit, but nothing was really scratching that itch. I can't bring myself to spend $700-$1000 on the Bandai version. So I took a chance on this one after watching your review and I have to say I think it's fantastic. I love the base. I think it looks great and seeing it in person, I didn't think it looked too skinny or out of proportion. Best part is It can still be picked up for a reasonable price. Great Review!

My parents didn't love me. I got this plastic generic Voltron for Christmas. It came with the pilots and you would slide them in the seats but then you closed clear plastic over them. Even though it wasn't the diecast metal one that my friend had I didn't complain much.

this definatlly looks amazing,i wonder on the yellow and blue lions there were pieces that revealed weapons on the back that popped up and others on the side of the yellow ones head. do these do that like the old matchbox ones did and what about the red and green ones,the heads fired out?

loved your review. very in depth & totally informative. having already purchased the 20th anniversary, i feel more than confident buying this model. does the led feature extend to black lion, while in lion mode ? also noticed an extra head in backround. does it come with the set ?

Search for "Voltron Lionbot 1980" on eBay. They're around $110 shipped. Paint apps are not as nice as the originals, but they have all the missiles and weapons.

Are there batteries in Voltron himself, to make his eyes light? Also I wish the lion legs were designed differently, they don't look right folded that way.

I've *really* been trying to tone down my purchases for collectibles. I got the Hot Toys "Battle Damaged T-800" recently and that was over $300...but a toy like this one, that seems to invoke so many great memories? Who watched this and didn't hear "Form feet and legs! I remember having the original die cast version as a kid. It was $11 and kinda sucked compared to it's larger, $25 plastic rival which included the key that fit in the black lions chest and the figures came with it...never would have guessed it would be worth anything. I pitched it like saturday night tissue paper like a dumbass.

They took too many liberties on this design that take away from the feels of the 80’s Voltron, for instance how the tails push in instead of folding down, and how the legs on the arms fold up on the hindquarters of the red and green lions, looks all wrong when you’re used to it being a certain way. Bandai got all of that right!
@impossiblepie10 жыл бұрын
what's with all these companies adding sound effects? it's a gimmick that makes the toy or figure or collectable cost more and if you keep the batteries and forget to take them out they will ruin the collectable/toy/figure. and you press the sound effect button once or twice if you're lucky. I just find the sound effect gimmick useless and like I mentioned increase of the cost.
