While Emirate Xaaron didn't have a Hasbro toy his appearance in the comics was absolutely based on the Joustra Diaclone Robocolt (Browning) which was contemporary with G1.

Pretty sure it was based on Megatron - at least in terms of the head sculpt and chest, which is all that was visible in his first comic appearance. There's even art of Megatron where it's quite clear that's what it was based on - I doubt the UK artist who first drew him, John Stokes, was aware of the Diaclone toy at that point

@@SixoTF except the browning toy has the same shape on the cheek grills, mouth stripes and crown while Megatron doesn't. The diaclone toy was pretty widespread back then. The torso has virtually the same shape and the limbs don't match either toy.

You could also say they made Xaarons inability to transform meta in the sense that old toys are usually missing their accessories. So if his accessories are needed to transform, and him being as old as the hills and having lost those over time, of course he can't fully transform. Unrelated but something I just realized, it's really funny how Marvel predicted gold plastic syndrome by making the mostly all gold character be the one to say at his age that something as functionally normal as transformation would end his session.

Cannot wait to have these guys in hand, easily my most hype toys of this year. Will say I was surprised Xaaron wasn’t a Megatron, but more namely the Core Megatron. I am delighted he’s from Reflector, though - while Core Megatron would scale even better with Siege Deluxe Impactor, the shoulders would ruin how Boxy Xaaron is. Not to mention the Cube mode’s usefulness as a communicube is a fun idea!

I appreciate all the work that went into them and that either character exists at all, but that said the nose on Xaaron is misjudged and I'm hoping a third party makes some replacement lower legs and arms for Flame, because the torso and headsculpt are awesome. Nice to see Hasbro giving you some much deserved recognition too.

Honestly, while I did think that a Megatron mold would have been the obvious choice for Xaaron, I was thinking that it would have been retooled from the Core class figure because of his size. However that might have made him too small. The Refraktor mold was an inspired choice. I love that we’re actually getting both Xaaron and Flame.

Someone at (The Allspark) said that factory managers can make "emergency changes" to molds if they think they changes will improve them or avoid any potential breakages, safety issues, etc. It could be that this was the case with the Megatron mold. Also, I think the offending tab can be easily cut/sanded down to let the leg bend as it was designed to do?

Looking it up, Gamer Megatron is accurate in steps, but the shell would take serious remolding to get accurate. About the degree of Kingdom to SS Airrazor. So they made a good choice for what they could sell. I've heard that it's not accurate, but this is probably the best we could get without a solo drop. Or bumping the price higher.

They could easily do Centurion as a build a figure .I know it would never happen because of licencing rights and other issues but I'd love a human action figure range to compliment the g1 bots. Like Circuit breaker, Neo nights,Deaths Head ( I know we already have one but I'd like an updated version) . Some of these characters have such an impact in the Marvel UK stories they deserve a little love

Since the knee tabs have nothing to do with transformation, I saw reviews that just clipped them off and it doesn't hinder the transformation at all and it improves the articulation

I feel like they are mostly perfect, and the only thing I have an issue with, of which I count as minor, is Flame’s tank mode always being in hover mode. If you do a Xaaron camera, I am curious how you would get some custom made lens accessory to attach, since the lens that you would get with three Reflector (Refraktor) figures won’t fit on Xaaron’s chest.

Wish these guys lasted longer. I like the idea of an evil Autobot mad scientist to counter Shockwave. Wasted potential not having them clash. An emotional nut pyromaniac that happens to be a genius Vs. Cold and calculating Shockwave. Would be a good rival for Soundwave and Bombshell too.
