It's a smart move for the companies, they'll get advertisement without having to sponsor youtubers (which would cost them A LOT more) and KZbinrs get free things for their content (but they aren't sponsored so they don't HAVE to say it's good, they can say whatever they want about the product). From my understanding, most youtubers just give away the stuff they won't use, to friends or family.
