Hi Eleanor welcome back and thanks for checking out my latest video! :) I personally think it is a great deal for a nice little starting worm bin it fits anywhere, and it light so anyone can use it! I didn't expect it to come with the meter so that was a cool bonus, I am going to do another video adding a new bin when I have time and the bottom bin is finishing up. They are hard at work in the new bin, I am up to three tote bins and my happy frog worm bin. Building up quite a worm population these days. Wish I had more time to make more videos. ;)

Could you explain what all four bins would be used for? One bin is for the mostly castings (bottom bin) and another bin is the mostly bedding/food and maybe one bin for a pre-inoculating bedding.

Hi Kevin thanks for visit and watching my channel! I have a great video on my channel called "This is WHY your WORMS are NOT MIGRATING to your UPPER BINS" this is a great video to explain what the other worm bins are used for. It would be much more detailed then me writing it out here, and be more informative. It is a different worm bin I am using however it is a four tier worm bin same as this one but it is up and fully working and a full worm farm. P.S I will make another video once I have some time adding on the new bin for this farm as well. :)

8 years ago I bought this tower. I had absolutely no idea what to do.. I found a guy on kijiji that was selling Red Wigglers. I got 200 for $5 . Lol He helped me to get started. Told me to get the bed ready first . NO FOOD ADDED Then, 3 weeks after that, I got the worms. There were only a few videos on KZbin to help me figure this all out. Some said do it This way Others said No , do it That way.. Keep it wet , No keep it dry. So confusing 😕 lol The instructions say the worms will move up to get their food in the tray above. YEAH RIGHT !! They were moving down, and drowning in all that Liquid in the bottom. I was told to keep the bedding wet and can use the tea in the garden. NOT !!! It's called Leache . I poured some in my garden, and it killed everything. You have to water it right down . And pour it like 2' away from under a tree or something like that. Tea needs to be bubbled in a bucket of water with a bag of castings . I just poured it out after I found out it's a killer, not a Tea.. Plus, my silly worms kept going down there. I even made little ramps for them to get back up, lol A year or so later I was getting the swing of it My tower wasn't that wet anymore. That's how it should be . I started putting dry cardboard in the bottom. That kept me and the worms very happy. They had a place to go, and not drown. When I needed to start another layer , the bedding was ready to use . It was damp from the frozen food thawing. Today.. I still have the tower I just found it to be to much work at that time. I now have 8 Rubbermaid Bins in my dining room full of Wigglers. It's so much easier. Now there is videos that they only use towers. I'm thinking I'll give it another try.. lol Please don't take this the wrong way. Since this video was focused on someone new to this fun hobby. And I was that confused newbie years ago. I had to address a few things you said. At the beginning you called the liquid a Tea. I think you could of explained what it really is. And how to use it. Using Rubbermaid bins you don't get Leache. If you do then it's way to wet lol When you made the bedding with all those banana peels. Without covering them. And no worms . I even said , watch there is going to be fruit Flys. Sure enough there they were. Just little things like that really confused me years ago. I have a little story to share. 5 years ago I saw little fruit flies flying around . So I got the yellow sticky thingys . Put out cups of cider with a drop of dish soap . But that wasn't working. One day when I was fluffing my bins. I noticed a caterpillar looking worm in the bin. I had no idea what it was. Then I was finding more in all my bins. I was freaking out. By then, this was more serious than I ever thought. I found out they were not fruit flies. They were called Gnats. And those caterpillars thingys were called Larvae. I had never heard of these back then.. They breed like crazy . A KZbinr told me the only way to get control of it was to use Mosquito Bits. Will after 2 days of searching . I could not find the Bits anywhere. Lowes said they had Dunks. I needed Bits. So I Googled it Found out the Mosquito Bits are illegal in Canada. The % of BTI that's in the Mosquito Bits is illegal here in Canada. BTI is what kills the larvae. The Bits has more in it, than the Dunks. That means the Bits starts killing the Larvae in 24 hours. The Mosquito Dunks kills in 48. The lady was from the States. She felt sorry for me. There is no instructions on the Dunks . She never heard of them before. We didn't no how to use it Will to much harm the worms Omg ... A year and a half later . I finally won that battle. I had to keep my bins so wet to kill the Larvae. Then wait to get it dry enuf to harvest. Now I put a piece of a Dunk in a sock and plop it into all my water sprayers. I use the sock so the nozzles don't get clogged . Mosquito Dunks only kills Larvae. Does not harm the worms or any plant soil . I have seen Gnats again. They die off right away now. The only water I use has a piece of dunk in it. It kills the larvae before it can hatch. I think everyone that has worm bins , and or House Plants. Has had gnats / fruit flies at one point. There's a idea for a video for you to do. I'm sure someone that follows you is going through it . Something so simple to do, And never have a Gnat problem again Cheers from Toronto

Now it's just morbid curiosity. We're getting ready to PCS from Japan back to MT after retiring from DoDEA and the Military. Been watching a lot of raised bed video's. Worms good, too many of them is bad? I'm a fly fisherman and really try to keep the hook in the lip rather than the mouth and throat. My plan was to do some 4x6 or 8 beds and put small containers in the corners for the worms to do their voodoo. When the containers get to the point of the 3rd stage of castings, let them loose on the beds casting and all and then rinse and repeat. 3rd grade was the hardest four years of my life. I've got to be missing a step somewhere. Any help would be appreciated. Blessings.

Hi thanks for watching. It's not that too many worms are bad it that they will self regulate and if you add too many some may die off if there is not enough space or food in the bin for them. You are better off to start the bin with a bit less worms then you will need and let the population build up over time giving you just the right amount of worm population for the bin size. Yes, I just remove the worms take the bedding and add the worm back to the new bedding to get back to work, this works over and over and over. Hope this helps.

They like a cool dark space, if you have a basement like I do it works best! :) Thanks for watching.
