The chemistry on this team is the most solid!!! Kate's draft is my favorite part of that draft too, it felt exciting because it is not a news that is regurgitated back and forth by the media. It can get saturated and exhausting most of the time, too much noise when too many people are talking. Her draft is special. When Aja and Kelsie showed their love to the Iowa coaches, that says a lot. This team got class. I mean it.

Caitlin fan first, but only since 3 months ago when some compilations dropped in my YT feed. Then an Iowa fan, watching as many game videos as possible and becoming fans of the other Hawkeyes - Hannah, Gabbie, Monika, Syd, Molly and of course Kate. Beside myself when she got drafted but on tenterhooks until she was confirmed. Watching this with, and I can't explain why, tears running down my cheeks. I love to see her doing so well. I believe Kate is reaping the rewards of fulfilling her dream and beating some odds because she was always giving and concerned of her teammates in HS and college. Awarded team captain was never a fluke as she propelled others, inspiring them in practice and in games. Indeed she has reaped what she sown. I hope in the off season she and Caitlin can get together and develop their needed strengths, while having loads of fun off the court. I love Kate Martin and as an Iowa Girl, have been a long-time fan and followed her NCAA Career. I have to say, getting into the WNBA for the first time this year, following the rookie class has been fun. I’ve become a fast fan of the Aces! Becky Hammond has blown me away with her coaching style and class, and the team culture on the Aces seems to be the best in the league! A’ja Wilson… Just… WOW! I just love her! The talent and fun personality and true leadership is unmatched. It’s amazing to see such tremendous talent and such a deep bench on this whole team really gel and support each other, and as a result EVERYONE SHINES! It warms my heart to see how Kate has been embraced and the fun rookie jokes that have come along with the mentorship. I'm a jaded, mean, rough-edged, drunk son of a bitch but @00:40 put a tear into my eye to see CC smile big for the first time since the season began. I'm so happy Kate got drafted by a competent team that actually realized her value. Sad Gabbie didn't declare or try out anywhere because from what I've seen she's the best defender on half the teams in the WNBA. Can't wait to see where Stueltke goes. I have given it a shot but due to the way women act towards eachother and more so due to the TERRIBLE refs, I'm probably done watching this season but I'll at least follow that 2024 IA team a little bit until they are all gone.

The true team love they have for one another is another vital ingredient in their success. A feeling of inclusive love should be the norm for many other teams because it takes away the competitive selfish desires to build oneself up at any cost instead of passing and assists at times which could be the better move. With many hours of practice and play together I can see that when a culture of honor and love/respect is ALREADY in place then when newcomers come in like Kate, she can be welcomed with open arms. May Professionals play not lose its luster with players being deemed as just “business deals” but fostering the best in them has a lot to do with their psychological/emotional well being of being appreciated and celebrated within their team. Such a short career time they have(though some have surpassed great odds and kudos to them) and when they look back at themselves and their teams may it be for far more than personal stats and league records. I believe the Aces will remain life long friends off the court as true “sisters from another mother”😊🏀❤️

We all knew during the draft we would hear Clark, Brink, Jackson, Cardoso, Reese but the whole time from the beginning I thought somebody has to, needs to draft Kate Martin, and a lot of spectators didn't even have a thought about her in their mind but I Knew if any of the scouts were worth their weight one of them would and should be able find and see the value in Kate Martin and low and behold second round, at 18 yet, her name is called and I said Vegas got a steal, I knew she would make that team, and she did ahead of their pick in the first round. She's one of the great stories in women's basketball. In college she was C.C.'s wing man, you could see her natural instincts, athletic ability, and court awareness, she was always in the right spot. Love those Iowa girls.
