This restoration was beautifully done and awesome outcome, I say you should restore a pair of 1999 fire red 5s cause I know the majority of them are cracking on the netting and that would be an awesome fix especially to learn. Great work and keep it up.

Shoe laundry detergent is just like any other. I'd stay away from anything with dye in it (blue tide etc.) Because while not likely, it could stain white shoes. But besides that, any detergent should work. It's all just soap.
