Played & conducted it many times both band & orchestra. Their tempo is about right; Bernstein always tended to hype-up the tempo in just about everything he did

Nice job for a wind ensemble of such size as compared to a full orchestra with strings that usually perform this great piece. Played this in HS with a concert bsnd of 90 instruments of which I was one of 8 French Horns (only 4 here so awesome soumd from them in all the critical spots!). The only thing I wouldve liked to hear in the end was a much faster last section as originally composed by Bernstein.

The Beeler arrangement much better. I didn't know we had French horns until 4 minutes in, and even then they were uninspired. Generally a very precise performance, but Lenny would be wiling to sacrifice precision for a bit more energy at the ending merry-go round tempo change (which, was there one?).

A little later, but same. We haven’t started it yet but I’ve talked to my director and we will play it at a much higher tempo. Last year we played Ride by Hazo and that was fun, I feel like we’ll probably match if not go higher than that.

They're actually going faster than the printed tempo of half note = 132

If printed half note is 132 then quarter note equals 264. Which is much faster. Unless it’s in a 2 based time. Like 4/2. But I’m willing to bet it’s in primarily 4/4

@@caydencrawford4948 I have the music sheets right here with me. When it says half note = 132, they play 140, however at 4:01 it's actually supposed to speed up to half = 152 but they stay at the same tempo.
