For some reason I have an association with old Japanese games, where there is either a safe room, some kind of safe zone or a peaceful place, mysterious, but calm. And this interesting feeling is like nostalgia because you've never been there, but it was peaceful and good.

I think I get what you mean. Like you're caught in some nightmare scenario, but at least that one little spot you're in just now is "safe"? "Serenity" and "Typewriter" from RE4, and the save themes from SH2&3 come to mind immediately for me. Fatal Frame has some good ones too, esp the menu music in The Tormented that plays on the Continue screen.

Or that feeling when life is overwhelming and you are surrounded with screaming deadlines and, while on the way to the latest crisis to resolve, you close your eyes on the taxi from the airport towards the chaos, and you don't mind the long commute and traffic lights, because while your eyes are closed you are in that safe and peaceful spot. That counts as such a place too, for me. Love this music.
