Watching box breaks of these are always fun, as you can really see how different the card culture was. Back then there wasn't a re-sale market, it was just companies wanting kids to buy as many packs as possible...which is why you see so many doubles, as it was really hard to complete a set back then. Still fun to see the old art though.

These are how I was introduced to the X-Men! My house parent at my group home taught me the whole roster. I had only been into Baseball, Football, and Hockey cards. It was 1992-93 for sure.

I still have this set! This is one of my favorite sets just because Jim Lee is my all-time favorite artist. Plus, a number of these cards were used for Marvel Covers a few years ago. It just goes to show you Jim Lee's staying power!!!

Awesome video and great pulls. We moved to the US in 1992, when I was 8, and by 1993 I discovered trading cards and started slowly collecting. I mostly focused on the 1993 SkyBox Marvel Universe set, but these still bring up nostalgia for that time. I love Jim Lee and X-Men, so I may have to track a box of these down.

I open so many of those packs when I was young, also its kinda crazy but the marvel card sealed boxes are rising in price, the nostalgia trip is hitting big. I'm really happy, I brought those X-Men and Marvel Universe boxes a long time ago when they was dirt cheap. Because Marvel Universe Series I Box is spiking like crazy for some reason right now, sold listing are at 300+ on ebay, I wonder how many comic shops have 100s of these boxes siting in a storage someplace.

Nice video again ! Back in the 90’s I collected some cards (the Marvel Silver Age from 98 especially). But since I was the only one collecting (I live in France), there was nobody I could trade doubles with. So getting a complete set was pretty expensive ! I still cherish my sketchagraph from John Buscema.
