UPDATE. All 4 out of 4 MTB RideNow tubes that I ordered suffer from this problem! They all leak air from 30 PSI to flat within 24 hours.

That has been my experience with road tubes (28c tyres) although it takes longer than 24 hours to go completely flat, they lose air pretty quickly. I am going to have to go back to butyl. Too bad because they ride great.

The Presta valve on your bike tire features a small, threaded nut at the top which is essential for inflating the tire. Before inflating, you need to unscrew this nut to allow air in; don't remove it, just loosen it enough. After reaching the desired pressure, tighten the nut back down to seal the valve and prevent air from escaping. This mechanism ensures a secure seal to maintain the tire's pressure. Always make sure the nut is tightly screwed after inflation to avoid any air leaks.

I got 4 tubes 20". All 4 are extremely hard to pump up (it's like I'm at 120 psi from the get go) It's a problem with the valve on the tube and not the cores. Even when I remove the core they deflate at a extremely slow rate. Sort it out RideNow

It's hard to find leaks on a TPU tubes because you can't put enough pressure to actually find such leaks. Put little pressure first on it, put it under water, then try to locate the really minute leaks. I had to manually squeeze and stretch the plastic film about 3 inches at a time. The leak I found was so minute that it releases such fine bubbles.. It appears to be normal to lose pressure after 2-3 days.. hope it help somebody out..

@@ZavyalovCycling Well, I guess I've just been lucky so far. And you seem to have the clear valve, so it should be the newer 'updated' version. Hopefully, they will fix it soon. I would also assume that RideNow doesn't offer any customer service to handle replacements... Not as expensive as tubulito but not too cheap as regular ones, 4 Ridenow tubes would probably be priced about as a good new tire. Despite these potential problems, I'm also not yet sold on the tubeless mess and still prefer tpu.

I tested ride now tires. I really love the ride feel. I thought I punctured all three in a period of 2 weeks. And was perplexed that I did not find any damage to the tyre, or objects in the tyre. Even bought a new tyre. Also found numerous small leaks in the tubes. At first I was impressed that the "punctured" tubes held pressure for so long. Sadly, the last leak was on my front wheel. It caused me to crash and crack a collarbone. Again, no damage or debris in the tyre...

I started with 2 RideNow (race formula) 45g tubes w/SV45 valves - claimed on the box to fit 32-622 to 47-622. The first 2 ordered hold air fine in a 28mm width Conti 5000 (1week and more starting at 70-75psi, and not decreasing below50psi). Awesome! Ordered 6 more and so far the 1st 2 go pancake flat in 36-48 hrs in 40-622 gravel tires at tests up to 45psi. Under water testing indicates several/many tiny slow pinpoint seeps from a tube inflated just enough to be smoothed without being 'stretched', sometimes the bubbles are grouped. It seems probably the TPU becomes thinner at larger diameters and may become very slightly permeable. Individual tiny bubbles can take 30 seconds or more to form, and are more readily noticeable if the tube gets any slight fold/kink from bending it into the water bucket. Proper leaks are a stream of bubbles.

I had the same experience with these tubes along with WTB's tpu tubes. Thie first time, I threw in a Ride Now on my gravel bike in the middle of a race. It held great for the remainder of it. When I went to clean my bike the day after, that tire was completely flat. I reinflated it and it lost a lot of air in a couple hours. I checked for leaks and saw none at first. I checked again the next day and discovered a bunch of really tiny holes. Very very small. About 7 of them. I wondered if it chemically reacted with the residual sealant or if the friction between the tire and the tube was the cause. The WTB's did the same thing. I bought them because they were cheaper than the Aerothan's I ran. I compared the Aerothan tubes with the Ride Now and WTB's. The Aerothan tubes are thicker and feel much more durable than the alternatives. But at a cost. I've never had mystery leaks with the Aerothan tubes.
@ZavyalovCycling
@ZavyalovCycling 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for the feedback! In particular, for mentioning the residual sealant fact - exactly my case. Even though I did my best to clean the insides of the tyres, some tiniest bits were surely left. Some TPU tubes might not chemically stand it, indeed (though they should).

I've had good luck with RideNow tubes. My only problem came when using 36 gram tubes with 32mm cyclocross tires. One tube ripped at the band that connects the tube together and the other had stretch marks at the band. It was clear they had stretched too far. I switched to 45 gram gravel tubes and have had no problems. My experience with 25 and 28mm tires with 36 gram tubes has been great over more than a year. Also no problem with 45 gram tubes in 38mm gravel tires. For me, they hold air much longer than butyl. I had one puncture with a small thorn and the supplied patch developed a very slow leak after a few days. The patch peeled off easily and I applied a tiny drop of gel super glue to the hole before applying another patch and that has held for months. All of the tubes had the clear, rather than older black stems. They just introduced new 39 gram all-road tubes for wider tires. My advice is to go as heavy as will fit in your tire, because TPU does not like to stretch.

Tried RideNow a month ago with two gravel size tubes (to go in 40c commuter tires). No leak whatsoever and pressure is maintained for almost as long as with butyl tyres. That got me really excited and I ordered 3 tubes, MTB size to fit my 50c gravel tyres. No problem on my few first rides, then the front tube started to leak slowly (flat in about 24hours), no visible leak in water (?!). Very puzzled, I then decided to use the 3rd tube to replace it. The 3rd tube had been sealed half way where the two ends meet and couldn’t even be inflated at all. I fixed the holes with RideNow TPU glue (no air leak in water) but the tire still leaked under pressure, I then found 2 tiny random holes which I fixed with self-adhesive patches. Checked the tire again in water, mounted it, got flat in about an hour 😢 I am giving up on the MTB tubes, I wouldn’t even trust them as spare before having checked each of them in real conditions.

Hi, Fred! Your experience goes hand in hand with mine. I've got a couple of road sized RideNows (black plastic valve stem), and they are absolutely fine after a half year. While all four of my MTB purchase (semi transparent white plastic valve) are leaking. Unfortunately, this means these tubes cannot be trusted in general. Some are fine if you are lucky, but that's not to be relied on.

Same problem, bought 2 tubes for my road bike, pumped at 60-65 PSI, one tube still holds the air after 4 months of usage, one tube went flat after overnight after 1st ride, and still can't find the puncture or leak. So RideNow brand tubes are just randomly working, I think. If you are lucky, you get the good tube otherwise, once it's flat and can't find the leak, pretty much goes to the bin.

I've used two RideNow TPU tubes now. The first I had fitted for a couple of months and it developed a pin hole puncture on the inner side for some strange reason. The next one I fitted leaked from two places where the valve attaches to the tube. It's back to butyl for me, but I'll keep a couple of TPUs as spares as they don't take up much space in my saddle bag.

Ordered 4 RideNow, 28g tubes, installed on the roadbike, inflated to 6.5 to 7 bar, went for a 80km ride, all went well. Next morning: both tires flat, not quite flat, some 0.2 bar were still in the tubes. Installed the second pair and exactly the same happened. Invisible pinhole leaks seem to be common. One of my Ridenow MTB tubes seemed to hold air well for months of use, but then developed a slow leak. I found no damage, but was eventually able to identify EXTREMELY small and hard to find pinhole leaks. LOTS of them. So small that, even with the tube inflated fairly firm, it would take would take 10-20 seconds or more for a smaller-than-a-pinhead-sized bubble to form when testing the tube underwater. Nothing resembling an obvious stream of bubbles. Most of the pinholes were on the inner/rim side of the installed tube. It's hard to know whether those holes developed in use or if they were always there. Interestingly, in my chasing after these holes, some seem to be intermittent. But since some TPU materials have a "self healing" characteristic, it leaves me wondering if these tubes may show a similar behavior. But ultimately, the real significance is the sheer number of holes. While clear non-foamng Gorilla glue is suitable for patching these, I'm not sure the required labor and time to locate, mark and patch all the holes can be justified. On a more positive note, I have had no issues at all (and no flats) while riding. And no problems at all with Ridenow road tubes. Nonetheless, I'm going to be trynig some of the other brands.

I have this problem with one RideNow TPU tube. I was hoping you had the solution! Water tests do NOT show any holes. Very frustrating. I will keep it as a spare, since the leak is so slow. One thing I DO like about these tubes is the WAY they handle thorn punctures. I picked up two massive goatheads about 3miles from home. I didn't pull them out, as that typically means an instant flat with butyl tubes. I left thorns in and rode. Thorns eventually broke off. Still held air. Got home, still had plenty of air in gravel bike. When I pulled tube to find holes for repair, I couldn't! I HAD to put tube in water to see any air leak. It's as if the stretchy material nearly sealed itself in the same way a whoopie cushion does. Even knowing where the hole was, it was super hard to see it and hole was caused by a BIG thorn. Anyway, I suspect these tubes will allow me to get home or finish rides that I otherwise wouldn't. Of course I'll find bike with a flat tire the next time I go to ride, but that's ok. I'm super impressed with the RN tubes. Light and inexpensive, with finding a leak the only downside. I'm sure Tubolito tubes are good, too. All of these are so much better than the Panaracer urethane tubes I tried in the 1980's. I'll post a video if I come up with a method of finding punctures.

Then I got a slow leak with another ridenow tpu tube. For the life of me I could not find the leak even under water and pressure. The small pinhole leaks are impossible to find.. I then put this tube on another wheelset and now it holds air with no leaks. So with one wheelset it leaks and on another it doesn't. But when I ride the bike it leaks slowly. So the leak only occurs when fully inflated and while being ridden. very weird.

@@cornelhughes Yes tried soapy water. The problem is that TPU tubes can only be inflated up to 8-10 psi when not installed on tire/rim. I have one right with such a micro puncture, i'll put soap all over it and leave it be to see if foam forms anywhere over time. Also dont buy the new ones with a plastic stem, they bend and break , and dont use the caps on the ones with aluminum stems because they oxidate and fuse themselves to the inner core, you will never be able to take it of without breaking the stem. I like tpu tubes but think they should be cheaper considering these kinds of problems, and butyl tubes sometimes also cant be patched no matter what.

I bought 10 TPU from AliExpress. But 3 of them are leaking at the valve between the valve core and the black tube. If I screw the valve deeper then there is not enough valve for the pump adapter to hold on. I tried to reinsert with E6000 glue on the valve threads but didn’t help. I think it is hit or miss, good batch or bad batch. What bothers me the most is I don’t feel to have to mount a spare TPU to be sure it is OK. To see the leak, just mount it, pressure to 120psi apply soap and water on stem and watch for bubbles or wait overnight.

I’ve had this problem on my ride now’s but also the same with more premium TPU brands so it’s a manufacturing problem effecting a few companies.

It seems Ridenows got worse with new production lots while some other brands - better. The problem is we never know at what point is a certain couple of tubes that we are getting 😂

I got two of these and they didn't last a week. The first punctured in the third ride and the other one was flat on the next morning. It was a micro-puncture but I was able to find. I wonder if I can just duct tape it. Anyway, there are so many good reviews that maybe it has some problem with the manufacturing batch or even a counterfeit product. Quite disappointing.

If you can locate a puncture, it can be fixed quite reliably. But for a permanent fix my advice is to use a TPU patching kit with GLUE. A self-adhesive patch will likely fall off in a while. Just a temporary solution.

I have experienced the same issue with All of the very light and thin TPU Tubes, Tubolito S, Revoloop race Ultra, slow leak, goes flat overnight but unable to find a puncture, the only ones that have been any good are standard Tubolito and Pirelli TPU Tubes, but the thicker ones are not as comfortable ride and suffer pinch flats more than butyl or latex tubes 🤷‍♂️

It depends. Some TPU tubes cover both the widths of 32 and 38. While others - not.

Revoloop has the same micro pinhole issue as you described in your video. Over-inflate the tube outside of the tire to a firm feel. Submerse in warm water and twist the tube; this will generate small silver domes on the tube surface. This is where the tube is leaking. It's the only way to find the pinholes. @@ZavyalovCycling

Same scenario here, have been using TPU tube over a week, it will strangely 100% deflated after 6 hours…try to find the root cause but no luck…at the end decides to go back to the conventional tube.. TPU, lightweight but the practicality sucks…

I've use Cyclami for over a year and have had no problems. I've never had a flat, and I've been refilling the tubes only once a week. I ride 700x25c tires and fill to 100 PSI. One thing I like about this brand is that the valves are metal, like on regular tubes.

I have S-tubos exactly in my road tyres now, punctured and repaired aproximately 10 times in total. I had the rim bed puncture around a spoke hole (through rim tape) which you mention. Though, just once so far. In comparison to RideNows, quite happy with S-tubos and their repairability. In the long run Tubolitos are cheaper then RideNows, it seems.

I have mixed results. The 26/27.5x2.2 caused me lots of pain. One of the tubes I stopped using , it just leaked too fast. The other one looses pressure but not so fast it impacts a ride. I did find some bubbles, using the water test, and applied the patches but seems to no use. Now to the 700 tubes. I put them on a road bike and they work perfectly fine. I am not sure that is wrong with the 27.5 but given the dual size 26/27.5 one could theorize that the tpu gets too stretched when used on the 27.5 wheel.
