I would love to. I may have to miss the first half hour or so, but as soon as I can get away I'll join in. It's the beginning of our new academic term, so lots going on. Hopefully see you soon.

great song! When will you make a song of Psalm 119?
@acousticpsalms5 ай бұрын
Thanks so much... I think Psalm 119 will be one of the last ones I will attempt. And I'll have to work on it in sections. Thanks for listening!

I am sure that you are working on the entire Psalm 119 for the next song. 😁😁

Lol... not for a while at least. I've been intimidated by the length of that Psalm. Although I did have the idea of using each letter of the acrostic to do a key change up. So I can both learn the Psalm as well as how to properly do key modulations. That's a later task! thanks for listening.

It's so great that you have the whole Psalm... and it makes sense as we represent God's word in fullness. However, since your songs are sung as if you are singing it today... or even as if we are singing it... today... I must admit it was (is) very difficult to sing the last few verses. Just feels so inappropriate, post Jesus. Not to say that it shouldn't be sung... but just sharing that I found it difficult to sing as "my voice". It was easier to see those verses as the representation of the voice of Israel at that time. But as soon as I did that, then it meant I would also have to de-personalise the rest of the beautiful Psalm... so hmm... tough choice). :) (these are just thoughts, first impressions after hearing the song. Definitely not a criticism or anything) But I do think as a song, this has come out very well.

Thanks Nigel. Yes, I know what you mean. That's why I've taken as long as I have to do this Psalm. To set apart those verses you may notice that I switched the chords into a minor mode. Same walkdown, but minor chords. I think I've just begun reading and singing all the verses about 'enemies' and 'the wicked' through a New Covenant hermeneutic of 'not wrestling against flesh and blood'. When it's the 'principalities, powers and spiritual forces of wickedness' I can make that adjustment. Thanks for listening! Blessing and abundance to you and the family this new year.

@@acousticpsalms Ya I can see your point in trying to connect to principalities... though after reading Jude, I wonder if we should address principalities with more caution. But all this is tough, I guess. And I admit no easy answers. And so more than anything, I appreciate the attempt to proclaim the full word of God.

Thanks @@NigelAjayKumar. One of the things I find most fascinating about this Psalm is just how intimate and personal the tone is... then verses 19-22 seem so abruptly different... and then 23-24 go straight back to the tone of the rest of the Psalm. Although maybe that call for judgment and justice against an enemy is anticipating the need for a New Covenant in verses 23-24 - "search me o God"... because as Jesus would put it "let him who is without sin"... In any case, I agree none of it is easy, but I have at least kept my commitment not to censor any of my Psalm songs.

And one more thing... one of the things I love most about the Psalms is that they express every human emotion. So, being God-created there are no ungodly or unholy emotions - only sinful motive and actions as a result of them. But the Psalms allow a pathway for us to turn emotions like anger into worship - directing them God-ward instead of taking them out on the people around us. And an imprecatory prayer is just that, a prayer. It doesn't mean that God will answer 'yes' to them. Anyway, for what it's worth...
