I expected this to be garbage but it was way better than it had any right to be. I had a blast, I think there’s grounds for a good to great sequel if they play their cards right. Tom is a charismatic lead and put an impressive amount of work into the stunts. Plus, it made bank, so to the studio it paid off 😭

I honestly really liked this movie. I thought Tom did great as young Nate Drake, and the action sequences all definitely felt very Uncharted. I think the biggest downfall was Mark Whalberg as Sully. But I think the actress for Chloe did a great job too. And I like that they started the series with Nate and Chloe's relationship, since in the games they had a history before Elena

I never played any Uncharted games so I went in with no expectations. I had such a blast the first time I watched it that I watched it a second time. A really enjoyable movie with an amazing cast. I think the reason I enjoyed the movie so much is because I haven't watched an adventure movie in a very long time.

Never played the games, so definitely missed out on any added value from seeing characters / moments from the games adapted to the big screen. But my big take away was that the leads just didn't have enough chemistry to quite pull off the 'clenched-teeth teamwork' vibe they needed at the core of it to carry the movie. Liked the choreography and Tom Holland's stunt-work and performance overall, though.

For me this didn't capture the spirit of Uncharted which has more of a wholesmome, sweeping, swashbuckling vibe. If it was a National Treasure reboot and Whalberg was replaced with Nic Cage I would have liked it a lot more.

Honestly I've only seen a playthrough of Uncharted 4 so...those are the plot point lifts/inspirations that I recognize. Namely the auction bit, with the cross, but also the pirate ship in a cave. Minus the flying.

I enjoyed it. But yea, Wahlberg was a bad choice for Sully. I get it, they're going for Nathan being younger, so Sully needs to be younger, and as the franchise grows and ages over the next decade maybe Wahlberg will start to make more sense, but they needed an actor who looked older. Wahlberg is 50 years old, but he doesn't look it. IMO if this franchise goes 15 years maybe Wahlberg will THEN get to that point. But that means it takes 4-5 movies to get to the Sully we know from the series, lol.

I just couldn’t enjoy it fully. It’s an okay movie don’t get me wrong and I had few chuckles. But as someone who loves the games and played them several times I was constantly going… that’s not how sully and Nate met… sully has a Stashe… Sam didn’t give Nate the ring… that’s not Chloe dad back story… sully met Nate when Nate was 14 not 20ish…. Didn’t know about sam until way later…. You’ve taken action sequence from all 4 games and it’s annoying… also Sam and Nate come up with the idea to be drakes not their parents telling them they were

THIS IS NOT A PREQUEL TO VIDEO GAMES!!!! It's an adaptation, same characters, different timeline, stories, everything. But I believe that looking at characters so they should look exactly like their counterparts in video games is unfair to everyone that is making these movies. Can't wait for how people will continue complaining about the casting in The Last Of Us series. You focus on way not important stuff, I'd rather have great story with people who are far from their counterparts than to have a dull movie with characters that look exactly like their counterparts

It’s not a literal prequel to the games, but it’s like an origin/prequel story to the stories in the games. In the movie Nate meets Sully and Chloe, hasn’t met Elena, and they’re all a bit younger.

I finally just watched it. I think they missed the mark a bit but it was a good movie to me. I just don't think it had to be Uncharted. It could have been it's own independent adventure movie with out tying into Uncharted and maybe been more successful. I hope it gets a sequel and they can improve. I love Marky Mark and think he's a good actor when he's not miscast but as far as game Sulivan goes he was definitely miscast...maybe in the sequel if it gets one he will improve. Also they should have just given him a fake full Tom Selleck mustache instead of what they gave him at the end but maybe that was the joke like it's new and not fully grown in yet. Still all in all I enjoyed this movie.

But the action was not like Uncharted's action whatsoever. In Uncharted, All of the action scenes like towers collapsing and buildings falling apart. Those were all very realistic action scenes and that's exactly how that would go down in real life. Every tower collapse that happened in Uncharted is exactly how a tower WOULD collapse. A train hanging off of the cliff while slowly budging off of the cliff , That's exactly how a train WOULD hang off of a cliff. The silliness of a helicopter carrying a ship that's three times its size would never happen in any of the Uncharted games. The Uncharted games kept their action very realistic but on an epic scale. Just the surviving part may have been a bit lucky lol. But the stuff that would go down in the Uncharted games was always very realistic and that's exactly how it would go down in real life.

Not a fan of this trend where characters have to "earn" memorable aspects of their costumes. Just put Sully in a fun dad shirt and give him a.cigar and mustache... Would've made him more memorable than generic action movie clothing for 90% of the movie.

Rise of Skywalker... and this movie. Hold the tie for the WORST 2 MOVIES I've ever paid money to see in the theater. Both movies, I was laughing out loud in disgust over how the plot was moved forward, rolled my eyes almost the entire time, and the final battle on both movies made NO logical sense that I almost walked out of both. Such a shame cuz I love the actors. But the writing and plot is SOOO bad I couldn't stand to watch them again

Looking at this and then looking at Nathan Fillion's age *and version and whatnot, he can still absolutely play Nathan Drake but as a much older Drake, like a drake from the end of the last game. Not saying what happens there because spoilers but a nate from the final scene would still absolutely work, he wouldn't even have to do too much action as well by virtue of being a much older Nathan Drake.
