I think Rick's main problem is wanting to keep the stories at a Middle Grade level. I bet these books would have been much better if he wrote them as YA. Especially since he keeps having them talk about their adult lives.

Okay but like also did anyone notice Percy skipping junior year because in botl he is touring good high school for his freshman year then in tlo he should be about to be a sophomore and then a couple months into the semester he gets kidnapped the next fall he goes back to school and is a senior and is talking about getting kidnapped his junior year and having to catch up but he got kidnapped his sophomore year

I totally agree with you. I was so disappointed. It's my least favorite in PJO universe for sure. Mediocre indeed. Percy was ooc. Annabeth was ooc. Percabeth were meh. The plot was nonexistent. And it really felt like a cashgrab. I have to continue in portuguese because my English isn't englishing.

I read the The Chalice of the God's this summer and I was genuinely quesitoning if the entire series was that bad and I was misremembering so I went back and I read the Last Olympian and I happy to report the first five Percy Jackson books are still fire, it goes downhill after that, obviously. Anyway, I'm tired of PJO's books.

I wouldn't be surprised if this Goddess book is bad. I tried reading the Trails of Apollo and I literally physically cringed so many times I couldn't keep on going
@LauraAravisHill4 сағат бұрын
Because of the writing or because of the narration of Άπόλλων (Apollo)? Because he is a painful POV in the first book

@LauraAravisHill it was so childish!! The plot, the jokes, the handling of the Greek mythology. The previous books were juvenile but never that insultingly stupid. I'm an adult now but if I was a tween reading the Apollo books I would have felt insulted, the book was constantly insulting the readers intelligence

Maybe this is my opinion, but I really do wish Rick Roidan had written all of the PJO books that he wrote in another book/series that aren't PJO related. Because I do feel like Rick doesn't feel that same eneregy for this universe anymore and he has written this trilogy as a farewell to the fans and to this universe. Like I think he is ready and his next project after the PJO universe is done will to write another universe with different characters and a different story.

The book was... okay, I guess? There wasn’t much divine intervention, but I really loved the Trojan Fields part and some other bits. I just feel like Rick can do better, you know? And yeah, I totally thought the same thing! If Austin could be there, why not Will, Nico, Jason (he's still alive at this point), Piper, Frank, Hazel, Travis, Clarisse? I could seriously list more names all day. Anyway, I’m with you on this one! 🤭 EDIT 1:08:37 Preach! it wasn't Annabeth who planned the defences of Manhattan it was Percy who planned it

Percy also has terrible self-esteem, so he could be giving too much credit to Annabeth because of that. Or Rick forgot who did it, he does that (even tho that is a very key detail)

The problem about Annabeth in the whole Percy Jackson series is, Rick trying to write a really really smart girl when he is not that smart. Annabeth wisdom is limited by Rick. Rick always need to make others dumb in order to make Annabeth smart. Btw, I think Rick insert too many propaganda in his books and it is clear distract him to write a good story arc and be faithful to his own characters. A lot of propaganda is unnecessary and actually really stupid (like a no muscle Percy, seriously a good looking Greek character, swimmer, good sword fighter, has no muscle? )
@Bauxit456Күн бұрын
What other propaganda has he written in his books in your opinion?
@Annabeth8Күн бұрын
Annabeth is really smart throughout the series. Yes there may be a few dumb moments by other characters, but her intelligence has been really portrayed throughout the books. No muscle? Seriously? Rick never wrote that line. Grover expected Percy to be "very buff" like a body builder, but Percy was never one. Percy has a lot of muscles, but he is not that buff. There is a difference. Compared to Jason, you could say Jason is very buff. In Mark of Athena, Piper said that Percy didn't look as strong as Jason, probably because he was not as ripped as Jason. So, there a clear difference between 'being buff" and having a fit body. Percy is perfectly muscular (Annabeth said that in Mark of Athena) but is not 'buff' like a body builder. Grover expected Percy to be ripped, but being ripped does not always mean you have to be strong.
@Ryko175Күн бұрын
@Annabeth8 Also Grover probably assumed Percy was buff cause the action movie stereotype of protagonists being very buff. I always assumed coach hedge showed him too many chuck norris movies.
@Annabeth8Күн бұрын
@@Ryko175 True. Also, Grover said: “I thought you had muscles and stuff”. The problem is people took that literally and thought Rick made percy scrawny. Not true. Percy was still very muscular, but not as ripped as grover thought he would be. No one can write : “I thought you were ripped” or something like that. 😅But that does not mean that this book is perfect. It had many inconsistencies, i hope he fixes that in his sequel.

….hm. I haven’t read it and probably never will, but….i dunno….maybe I’ll just learn to forget about it- …..wait what were we talkin about? Some of the issues people have can be explained with Percy's poor self-esteem which he has had from day 1, and what he focusses on in his memories. For those saying that Percy hasn't had much character development, that's because he had to act more adult-like from page 1 than his age, and so now his physical age is close to his mental age (the YT channel 2 Wise Girls has a bunch of stuff abt trauma and how it effects Percy & the other characters in the story, if ppl want to have a look at that) Just my thoughts, and I do see how the book can be disappointing
