Such a heartfelt scene this. Uncle Albert's final gesture just proved how much Del & Rodney meant to him. This was his way of saying thank u for taking me in & always being there. What's even better is that both Del & Rodney were on the brink of bankruptcy yet from beyond the grave Uncle Albert saved them him saying his last goodbye almost. The faces of Del & Rodney is so genuine in shock that they didn't expect anything from Uncle Albert

I love how even after Buster’s death, Uncle Albert was still a core part of the episodes.

Was the show still running when he died? 😊
@BronyDanProductionsАй бұрын
@@jennynott3841 Well originally, the series had ended in 1996, but then they brought it back in 2001 for three more Christmas Specials, due to so many fans asking for more. Sadly, Buster Merryfield had passed away in 1999, just as John Sullivan had started writing the first special, so they had to say that Uncle Albert has also died. He wasn’t the only one sadly, because just before the BBC announced that ‘Only Fools and Horses’ would be coming back, Kenneth MacDonald, who played Mike, the Landlord of the Nag’s Head, suddenly died and so Sullivan had to rewrite certain parts and say that Mike was currently in prison.

We all know how much Albert loved Del and Rodders but this gesture is Albert's message from beyond the grave as to how thankful he TRUELY was to them for taking him in.

And in the end Uncle Albert was the sanest of all the Trotters. I mean you pick up a thing or two during the war

well he did sink very single aircraft carrier and battleship he sailed on, and his crowning achievement was the knackering of the gravy boat

It wasn't during the war.....it was during the 1939-1945 conflict with Germany!!! 😂

Good old Uncle Albert, he had a loving heart and plenty of stories, but you would not want him on your ship during the war. 😀

A lot I think they got wrong with the 3 specials. But having Albert as the trotters hero is perfect. As he truly loved both the boys. One of my favourite moment is in the episode who wants to be a millionaire. When Albert telling del he has to go to Australia and take his opportunity. But when he rejects it Albert’s face is of pure joy. That he gets to keep his nephew around.

Uncle Albert remembered his roots - started with nothing, didn't need nothing. The scene on the docklands where his old childhood had disappeared into modern-day rich man apartments was quite poignant really. He was happy without the money so he put it to work instead.

Quite nice, that the man who received perhaps millions of pounds; decided to give some back to the very people who shared some with him

Uncle Albert may have been obsessed with his navy and war days, but, he sure helped Del and Rodney out of a financial hole.

The two core themes of OFAH are money and family, and in the last episode, they come together beautifully to give the Trotters one last success and ensure that, while they aren't millionaires, they are in the end wealthy.

I wonder how they spent their £290,000 after giving £50,000 of it to the Inland Revenue, of course?

I like to think they took £120,000 each (after they paid £25,000 each) and got their own places but kept the flat in Peckham.
