Philosophically speaking, that’s not false. There is a psychological theory, the Persona and Shadow- the Mask, and the True Face beneath. By searching within, one can begin to separate what is truly “you” and what you have set up to defend yourself from the day-to-day world, though you may not like what you find. By finding the balance between your Shadow and your Persona, you can begin to grow as a person. It's amazing what a huge impact that one small change in lifestyle can have, eh? Glad you took it to heart. Being humble or polite might not always get you what you want, but in general you'll be a happier person for it, and others will normally be more willing to be helpful in turn. That's why I'll never understand a narcissist. They grip something(or someone) tighter and tighter and in the end, time and time again, they lose what they're trying to hold on to. Yet they never learn from this and only try to grip the Next Thing even tighter.)
