1. Use king size corn tortillas. 2. Cook your meat and use a bean smasher to get it real mushy. 3. Add seasoning, I used a generic taco seasoning 4. Add a sprinkle of flour (yes do it) 5. Warm your tortillas on a greased pan, just until pliable. 6. Stuff your tortillas. 7. Fry the folded tacos until eat side is golden. 8. When done, drain on paper towel. 9. Add your half cheese slice, lettuce 10. I have jack in the box near me so I have a bunch of sauce in the fridge. Add it.

These are actually originally called Freddies. You don't cook the meat first. You stir the meat with seasonings until it's a paste consistency. You can do that with your hands or with a stand mixer using the paddle. Then you add your meat to a corn tortilla and smash it down. Make sure it's thin and sealed pretty good and don't over fill. Then you deep fry. You can use a Dutch oven with oil and it fry only 2 at a time. Just need enough oil to cover. When they come out crispy and golden then you quickly add the cheese,sauce and lettuce. Then let it sit for a min or two. Cheese will melt and the outside will be cool to the touch. I miss Jack in the Box too. I moved to MS from AZ where they had one on almost every major intersection.

I know, health wise they are terrible for me, but am so addicted to Jack in the Box tacos. So I appreciate the video. Can't wait to make my own. I live in Texas where Jack in the Boxes are readily available. But I've lived in Arkansas & Missouri, before, & didn't have access to a Jack in the Box. I know the frustration & the craving! The first thing we did, when returning to the Texas, was hit a Jack in the Box.

Put the meat in the tortilla and then fry it, already folded. That way, the center stays a litte soft (like the original jack tacos) while the edges get crispy.

@BlueTigerRunning6 жыл бұрын
Cool video, agree about the texture, but uncle all you need to do is add a bunch of water to the meat before you cook it (about 1/4 cup) per pound plus about 2 tsp tomato paste, then when it cooks it will be really "mushy" with the texture you want. Also just shred the onions on a micro plane (type of shredder), into the meat which will also make them softer, no need to blend. There was a lady who did a video about this method, but I can't find it right now. Also she added a teaspoon or so of cornmeal to it to make it even mushier. Then she stuffed the softened shelled and folded over then chilled in fridge, took them out and deep fried.
@uk77696 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I will have to try those next time.

Q T ... Thanks, I think I'm going to try them the way you described. I live in Wisconsin & have never had Jack Box, so I don't really have anything to compare them to. Hopefully they taste better than Taco Bell's hard shell 🌮. I've never been a fan of those. There is one lady on here who is making her version of these along with/her husband. And she just takes raw hamburger meat, no seasonings except for a sprinkle of garlic powder and fry it all together in oil. I was thinking about doing em that way too, but if course adding a bit more spices.

If you can get William's taco spice in your area, it is so good and tastes a lot like JIB spices. I don't blend my meat, if your meat is defrosted, then put it in a pan, fill water to top of the meat and then stir till the meat is loose and floating in the water and then boil it down, leave some water for the spices to blend into and simmer just a little while, no clean up for the blender.
@GungaLaGunga10 жыл бұрын
Mmm... I'll have to find some Williams spice and give it a tasty taste!! Thanks for the spice tip! Cheers! And I will try the boil it down method too. Does it achieve that wonderful fine grit paste like taco meat consistency?
@valeriasmith520310 жыл бұрын
Uncle Kenta - it is very fine, your meat has to be defrosted if frozen and just stir or chop till it all falls apart into small particles. What I like about Williams Seasonings is there is no fillers or thickeners. Make sure you leave enough water to simmer in the spices, not a lot of water just enough. It's super easy and when I made mine I could swear I was tasting some JIB tacos, I just didn't have the American cheese, that would have put the Bam! into it. Love your video, You are a wonderful and funny character. I wish I could get my hands on JIB taco sauce.
@valeriasmith520310 жыл бұрын
Uncle Kenta I should clarify, the meat should be uncooked when you stir with the water and break it up. It makes an ugly looking slurry, but if it's already starting to cook it wont break up. The tiny particles are so worth it. It also allows the spice to really get inside the meat. My Dad was the best cook on this planet, we lost him in 2009, but one thing he taught us kids is that good food is well worth the time and effort. Sometimes the blender can leave a funny taste in some foods, that's why I devised this method.

I think you can adjust any recipe in 10 based stove setting by factor of 1.1 que no?? But on your stove, why don't you just make ten hotter, and make ten be the top number, and make that a little hotter?
@jcengr500010 жыл бұрын
uk7769 True. True. But if you do have a stove that goes to 11, your math is correct. A*1.1=B where A is the setting of the stove that goes to 10 and B is the proportional setting on a stove that goes to 11. Thank you, Unckle Kenta (new spelling is another idea to copyright).
