The shop is big & very nice looking decor inside!
@UncleLeeAdventures2 жыл бұрын
It’s a 2 shop lot and being old shops.. the length of the shops is 120 feet. And also on decor, you can see 3 distinct sections.. the front is the original owner (1st section)… further back in the same shop, is decor by 2nd generation (KK Phang) and the next shop lot with modern deco is by 3rd generation. Very interesting history.. look at the floor tiles.. starting from tiles from the 70s, then 1’X1’ tiles and the latest is 2’X2’ tiles.. I didn’t show these but you can see it in the shop.. I find KK Phang has the foresight to preserve the history and their brand.

Hi uncle Lee. I saw one of your older video in May 15th this year that you and lady boss were in Granville Island, Richmond city. Excellent choice! They are both popular tourist attractions. I live less than half hour away from either places. Richmond is known as little Hong Kong of Canada. Glad to know that you and lady boss had a fabulous time! 👍😍. We have the best food in Vancouver and Richmond. Visitors from other provinces just travel here to eat. Who knows I might bump into you guys in December. I look forward to your next adventure.

@@Annyeong459 3 weeks is good enough to go around.. just don’t go to the east coast states like Kelantan or Terengganu or east Pahang because in December it’s monsoon season and it will rain heavily everyday.. and also high chance for flooding.. you don’t want to be stranded there.

@@Annyeong459 you can easily find these in Pangkor island, Tanjung Sepat (I have a video on this), Bagan Dato’ (watch my Sky Mirror video), Kuala Kurau (I have video on this too) & basically any coastal towns along the West coast of Malaysia. Hi Uncle Lee, traveled back from overseas to try this restaurant after away from msia since covid and from your recommendation on this video. Shocking sang har mee was not in the traditional sauce that was familiar in taste kinda orangey and not enough “ko” on the med prawns, 1 out of 3 prawns was not fresh as meat was breaking apart soft ( but restaurant no prob replaced 1 prawn which is hassle and came tasted bit better), next “soon hock “ took half fish as recommended by u supposed 2.2kg from Allan (same guy that served u, even remembered u when I mentioned uncle Lee) , half fish came out smaller than anticipated, flesh definitely was not from swimming 2.2kg fish as it was not sweet and flaky as shd a fresh SH. Bill later indicated fish was .8kg. Gave up , write off for sure as Allan didn’t even dare to ask for feedback about meal when he processed bill. New customers beware, regulars lucky u I guess. Uncle Lee and restaurant’s reputation and certainly takes a dent here in my books.
@UncleLeeAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about your below expectation meal. As far as I know, they do not use coloring for their sang har mee..the orangey color is from the roe in the prawn heads. It’s not always that we get orangey color, sometimes it’s more yellow than orange… I prefer orange as it looks and taste better. Don’t expect a lot of it from small and medium size prawns, sometimes don’t even have any! That’s why I always go for the biggest prawns and even then not always guaranteed to have full of roe in the heads. Probably 80/20 rule. As for the soon hock, if half a fish is only 0.8kg, I would skip it as it would not be as tasty and flaky as a much bigger fish. Better off just eating groupers or some other fish at this size. I dined there few days ago and it was packed like crazy on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, they do not have big soon hocks recently; most are pretty small so they do not recommend me to order 1/2 fish. I was expecting quality degradation with such a huge crowd that night but was pleasantly surprised when it was even better (especially the honey squid) than my visit there few months earlier.
