I would love to hunt with Si or just be his shotgun/rifle catty. I admire Vietnam veterans. I am 23 from a small town Hahira GA. Southern as they come. I love history and military history. I have watched videos on Vietnam veterans that went into the wilderness and isolation to escape society and the ignorance of society. Because of what they experienced in Nam. My brother is a combat marine veteran who served in iraq and afganistan for 4 years, as a artillery coordinator. Platoon 3109 graduated Dec 9, 2005. Served until 09. I praise God he made it home in one piece. Seeing war and being in a war torn country changes men. I admire combat veterans, and appreciate their sacrafices. Uncle Si has been my favorite person on duck commander from when i first started watching. I have been on a mission trip when i was 12 to Honduras, for a week. It truly was a eye opening experience. My dad was also apart of the air force as a nurse. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia during desert storm II. My grandfather avoided the draft to Vietnam due to asthma. My mother's father was born in 1934 or 36. I wanna say he farmed and that's why he missed the draft, i could be wrong. I know of a combat Vietnam veteran who is still living, right down the road. It would be beautiful to see SI and other GIs talk and just cut the fool. Truly the last great generation besides those who served WW2 and some of the Korea veterans. I also attended a private Christian school for my 4 years of highschool and had the opportunity to go to school with a foreign exchange student from vietnam. Take care and God bless uncle Si.

Pickled okra with a little heat is great. Where I lived when I was 20-26 we had 2 old maid sisters as neighbors. They were 68 and 71 when I first met them at 16 years old. They milked a dozen cows by hand morning and night to supplement their SS checks. They sold the milk to a local cheese factory. They grew a huge garden and canned most of their food. They'd share with me because they wanted my babies to eat "real food". They made hot pickled okra by putting a teaspoon of red pepper flakes in a quart jar before filling it with the okra and brine. Once it went through heat bath and sealed they turned jars upside down to distribute the pepper flakes and left it for month. Loved it. They said the secret was flipping it upside down. I hated when we moved. Missed those two ladies and their lessons and stories more than I missed most of my family. Listening to Si talk reminds me of them. They had fishing stories, a boat theft story and a way they shared on how they had calves born and didn't own a bull. It involved fences between them and their neighbors being torn down my trees, the cows or unknown causes when the time was right. The neighbor knew what was going on and would have let them bring the cows to be bred, but he played along with their stories about how their cows got on his property to visit his bull. They didn't want to be beholding to him. But if some natural happening like a tree falling allowed their cow to get on wrong side of the fence and she just happened to get with a calf that was providence. 🤣 We used to eat with them after church almost every Sunday. My four boys became the grandkids they never had. After moving I'd take kids to go visit ever 3 or 4 months. It wasn't enough. Now at 60 it seems like a lifetime ago. Si is a treasure.

Si, the bidet is a wonderful thing. My wife convinced me. We use it and the have cloth toilet paper to dry off the bottom. I have a hard time using any other toilet. I try to get home to use mine.
