These old shotguns still work better than 90% of the imported "tactical" shotguns...I have a Mossberg Maverick 88 and as 5901A1 both kited out for home defense.

Thanks Tim! I've picked up an old Winchester Model 12, Model 1897 and a Stevens 520. Excellent guns that seem to get smoother with age and use. They don't build em like that anymore.

Was gifted a Sears Model 300 (semi auto) which is actually cross compatible with a Winchester 1400/140. So I found a 18.5" barrel and I changed the front sight and was actually able to put an xs sight on it. still kept the duck barrel to see if I can take it to the skeet range

Awesome find I picked up a mossberg d185bolt action 12 and a Winchester 1300 speed pump defender at my local pawn shop picked them both up for 290 out the door the Winchester hoods 7 plus one. Also have a Remington 870 with adjustable stock and 18.5 in barrel was also a pawn shop find for 280 about 3 years ago great shotguns. Awesome video

Uncle Tim I usually agree with you. But the J C Higgins I had the bolt carrier blew apart on the one I had. I had put over a 100 or so rds through it. That single slide is weak. I still appreciate a whole lot of your input. Appreciate you brother.

I found a Remington 11-48 in a pawn shop. They wanted more money than I was willing to spend on it. The interesting thing I found about it was, it's a semi auto shotgun that says on the barrel "Chambered for 2 3/4 inch or shorter.

@@davidpresson26 I just don't see how a short shell can even have enough power to cycle the action. It was a very interesting find though.

@@sakridsky get a box and try it in your gun. A 2 3/4 inch shell will cycle most semi-automatic guns. I have a Browning Auto 5 that was my dad’s that has shot a LOT of 2 3/4 # 8 for quail and dove. Shorter shells I have no experience with but I’m sure they would work in a pump action gun.

There's been a couple of occasions that I have seen Smith & Wesson police trade in shotguns for sale. Are those good to go or should we look at other options?

should be good to go, I haven't had much experience with S&W shotguns, but if you like it, have it checked out by a gunsmith and rock on!

Police trade in means the stock has goofy wear from the cops elbows rubbing it when it was mounted in the center console of the patrol car. They typically were not shot or cleaned much.

It's a total shame, we only have 1 pawn shop in our town. As a result, his firearms are waaaay overpriced.
