I think the subtlety of this story is great. On one hand it’s a dry laying out of absurd facts, party stories and quirky anecdotes about this guy’s uncle. On the other hand it hints at a life of dissatisfaction and crippling loneliness. It’s bittersweet and charming and I think it ought to make people appreciate the fleeting moments we share with other people that sometimes end up making their day.

All of Elliot's work is like this pretty much. Every short of feature lenght movie is basically more of the same but way prettier every time. It's a very distinct style though and I enjoy it very much. I recommend watching his latest, Memoir of a Snail.
