A lot of the musicians performing with Jackson Browne are some of the star musicians of that time

Tell your Dad his pick is great ! Well I was really gladly surprised you reacted to this long time best track of mine, and I could see on your face you didn’t know where this was going to take you. It was a good return to the past for me, so thank you 🙂

this song is so universal you are a musician no matter what genre and gives the non musician a glimpse into how it is for the performers and the roadies and how it takses them all - roadies, musicians , management and the fans , to make a show

Saw Jackson on a double bill with Bonnie Raitt in Atlanta in the mid-70s. Each did a set and then they did a set together. Only show I've ever seen where the fire marsall had to come on stage and shut them down. I think of this every time I hear this song.

Stay was recorded in 1960 . It’s a Du Wop song.

In some versions he gets lazy/carried away on the loadout section. Just meanders all over the place for half an hour, hoping people would leave I guess. But I always liked Stay. This originally came out about a girl on a date who was already past her curfew and hurrying to go home, and the guy pleading her to stay, just a little bit longer. In this version (not this video) they're packing up the stage and taking things away to load up on the travel bus, finally leaving only him as they roll away his piano and scoot him off the bench. That slide guitar that you haven't seen for a very long time is alive and well in Country music. The guy playing it here WAS a very long time ago. Not positive, but I believe he's dead.
