Here is some more from Calvin on the extent of the Death of Jesus Christ John 3:16 “That whosoever believeth on him may not perish. It is a remarkable commendation of faith, that it frees us from everlasting destruction. For he intended expressly to state that, though we appear to have been born to death, undoubted deliverance is offered to us by the faith of Christ; and, therefore, that we ought not to fear death, which otherwise hangs over us. And he has employed the universal term whosoever, both to invite all indiscriminately to partake of life, and to cut off every excuse from unbelievers. Such is also the import of the term World, which he formerly used; for though nothing will be found in the world that is worthy of the favor of God, yet he shows himself to be reconciled to the whole world, when he invites all men without exception to the faith of Christ, which is nothing else than an entrance into life” John 1:29 “Who taketh away the sin of the world. He uses the word sin in the singular number, for any kind of iniquity; as if he had said, that every kind of unrighteousness which alienates men from God is taken away by Christ. And when he says, the sin Of The World, he extends this favor indiscriminately to the whole human race; that the Jews might not think that he had been sent to them alone. But hence we infer that the whole world is involved in the same condemnation; and that as all men without exception are guilty of unrighteousness before God, they need to be reconciled to him. John the Baptist, therefore, by speaking generally of the sin of the world, intended to impress upon us the conviction of our own misery, and to exhort us to seek the remedy. Now our duty is, to embrace the benefit which is offered to all, that each of us may be convinced that there is nothing to hinder him from obtaining reconciliation in Christ, provided that he comes to him by the guidance of faith.” Romans 5:18 “He makes this favor common to all, because it is propounded to all, and not because it is in reality extended to all; for though Christ suffered for the sins of the whole world, and is offered through God's benignity indiscriminately to all, yet all do not receive him” VERY CLEAR that John Calvin believed that Jesus Christ Died for ALL MEN WITHOUT EXCEPTION, which is the ENTIRE HUMAN RACE!

There is no such thing a irresistible call of God. God offers the free gift of eternal life to everyone. John 3:16-18. First John 2:2. First John 5:13. First Timothy 2:4. For the GIFTs and calling of God are without repentance. John 12:32. God calls all men to believe on Him alone for the free gift of ETERNAL LIFE. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that BELIEVETH on me, HATH (present tense) EVERLASTING LIFE. Life that lasts forever. Jesus said it, we believe it, and that settles it. God cannot lie. God does not give faith. He gives eternal life to them that BELIEVE. Acts 16:31.

I see the Biblical perspective of Calvinism but I don't know if it's consistent. The Bible makes it clear that God is not the source of sin. If I accept Calvinism I have to accept that God actually is responsible for the sin of individuals which makes it seem evil to create them for eternal torment. I just don't know if I can believe that God created complex robots a majority of which he created to pour his wrath upon for eternity.

My reaction is simple: if St. Paul was a Calvinist, would he have written these words? Could he have? It would be more accurate, were he a Calvinist, to say that God does show partiality, and does divide the world into two arbitrary and unchanging groups for purposes of salvation, but that the two groups are elect/reprobate, rather than Jew/Greek. What then, to make of Romans 9, where Paul does seem to say that God divides the world between the saved and damned before the dawn of time? If he changing course? Of course not. Paul is quick to note that membership in these groups changes, as those who weren’t God’s children can become His children (see Romans 9:25-26). And Paul summarizes his argument from Romans 9 this way (Romans 9:30-33): "What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did d not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, righteousness through faith; but that Israel who pursued the righteousness which is based on law did not succeed in fulfilling that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it through faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone, as it is written, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone that will make men stumble, a rock that will make them fall; and he who believes in him will not be put to shame". Note his rhetorical question: why? He doesn’t say, “God arbitrarily decided it.” He doesn’t say “They lost the cosmic lottery before the dawn of time.” He says, instead, that they rejected Christ (the “Stumbling Stone”), and rejected faith, treating salvation as something that they could merit or earn through works of the Law. So even here, St. Paul is quick to bring the question of salvation back to this: what do we believe, and how do we respond to that belief? But if Paul believed in unconditional election, that question is irrelevant. So Saint Paul certainly dosen't appear to be a Calvinist. Thank you.

@Douglas Most Calvinists always have their mind filled up with illogical presumptions and they can even read people's heart. Please don't just state your opinion but comment on the facts of my statement. Judas Iscariot like you are God's elect but ended up in perdition. Are you certain that you will persevere to the end? How much are you to persevere but you might not persevere enough already? May be you are a self-proclaimed elect? nobody knows even you. What a miserable doctrine to adhere to?

@Douglas Certainly, I agree with your statement as to the character of God. Whereas that is not what Calvinism taught but made God out to be a monster by affirming that He predestinates some to eternal life and other to eternal damnation. Calvinism in fact maligned God's character by their doctrine and made Him ungracious instead as He shows partiality.

@Douglas surprised a person with 28years of experience was unable even to comment on Calvin's theory of double-predestination on whether it is biblical or not? Don't presumed that I am an Arminian as I don't believed in their belief system. Certainly, all believers are to work out their salvation with fear and trembling. Thank you Friend.

@Douglas it is okay in relation to your growth of spiritual understanding and when you are about to get into the word, may I suggest, you ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate your mind and grant you further understanding. In my earlier days in my Christian life I too was ignorant of the word and came across Calvinism which sounds logical but later in my spiritual maturity I found Calvinism is not biblical. Let me prove it to you what I had just claimed. Calvin taught double-predestination and this is a fact and you can google and find it out for yourself. He taught God predestinates some to eternal life but other to eternal damnation. Is it true? Certainly not as in the whole bible you can find only these four verses. #1. (Eph 1:5) Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, >this is the first verse. It stated having predestinated us. Who is the "us"? your read above in Eph1:1 Apostle Paul was writing to the saints(believers) in Ephesus and said "us" that is including himself. Thus it said predestinated us (believers) for what? for the adoption of children by Jesus and certainly unbelievers cannot be adopted in this verse. #2. (Eph 1:11) In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: >this is the second verse and remember these are believers. They were predestinates for what? to obtain their inheritance in the future #3. (Rom 8:29) For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. >the third verse. For whom he. Who is that "he"? refer one verse before this verse ie rom8:28 it was the believers. They were predestinate for what purpose? read this verse and it stated predestinate to conform to the image of Christ #4. (Rom 8:30) Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. >the last fourth verse and remember they were believers. They were predestinate for what purpose? it mentioned predestinate to be justified and glorified. These are the only four verses mentioned in the whole bible. Does it affirmed the concept of what Calvinism taught that God predestinates some for eternal life but other to eternal damnation. Does the bible taught us as Calvinism affirmed in their doctrine. I let you be the judge. Thank you.

@@kurtk8926 I thank you for your prayers, i certainly need them. I find it curious that so many apply this passage as to God choosing those whom He is going to save, but if one would take the time to look up the OT passages referenced by Paul in this chapter they would see that it is quite the opposite. Consider Jacob and Esau. There is no indication that either is being chosen to be saved. The choice being made is to the inheritance and specifically to that of God's covenant with Abraham. There is no record of Esau ever being Jacob's servant, this is clearly a reference to their decendents, and I am certain that Pastor Lawson would never claim that all of Jacob's progeny would be saved or that none of Esau's could. Included in this covenant (Gen 12) is God's desire to bless all nation's through Abraham. This is consistent with His desire in Rom 11:32 to have "mercy upon all" which is conspicuously absent from Lawson's exposition of 9:18 "therefore He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy..." It is assumed that God only shows mercy to His so called "elect", but that is not what the passage says! There are just too many presuppositions here to address. I will leave you with this observation: Jesus Christ is the only person who was ever chosen before the foundation of the world, believers participate in His choseness only after that they have been placed into Him, which occurs at the moment of salvaton. No person is ever chosen by God to have saving faith imparted to him. I would encourage all to look up the OT passages that Paul references and see for themselves. May the Lord give us all discernment with His Word.

Christian Nihilism describes Calvinism perfectly. After all, why pray or why evangelize, or why do anything at all if the Calvinist god decrees ALL things? Everything is scripted, even our thoughts and beliefs. God is sovereign over EVERYTHING after all! Even the momentum and position of every fart molecule of every person who has ever lived. God has it all planned out, so don't worry, chill out, relax. And as Calvinists like RC Sproul liked pointing out, if there was ever a maverick fart molecule outside of the Calvinist's god's control, then the Calvinist god wouldn't be sovereign, and all of his plans and decrees would come crashing down. Wow! We can take refuge in such a powerful, Sovereign Calvinist god! But wait, let's think about this, shall we? If the Calvinist god can't create a world where he does not control every fart molecule, and somehow a maverick fart molecule escaped his control which subsequently fouled the plans and decrees of the Calvinist god, then the Calvinist god is pretty pathetic, don't you think? I mean, c'mon!!! The Calvinist god can be humbled and taken out by a single tiny maverick fart molecule? That's not a very high view of God. And such a deity is certainly not sovereign. But the God of the Bible did create a world like ours, where there are maverick fart molecules and the people who fart them. And these can operate independently of God. And no matter what maverick fart molecules exist or people exercising their free will choose to do, God is like a master chess player. And every move that the maverick elements in our world make, God always makes the perfect countermoves so His divine decrees and plans never fail. Calvinist god=God controls everything God of the Bible=God is in control of everything That is the God of the Bible. He's sovereign, yet allows the existence of mavereck fart molecules and the free will choices of people to exist. The god of Calvinism can't handle that. It's too much for him. He's a paper god whose plans and decrees can be disrupted by a single stinky fart molecule. So Calvinists, the next time you feel a big juicy fart coming on and you let let it rip, please think about that, ok? By the way, Romans 9 has absolutely nothing to do with salvation. Paul was addressing hard hearted Isreal. But Calvinists must abandon the authority of Scriptures and take Bible passages like Romans 9 out of context to defend and promote Calvinism, not the Bible

@tommycapps9903 Yes, nothing can separate us from the love of God. ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. This election takes place by way of the will. The "external" call or invitation goes out to all people. Some people hear this invitation many, many times in their life. But....because we are dead in our sins and trespasses, we WILL not choose Him...ever. We are dead, we will NEVER choose Him or incline ourselves to Him because we can't. Until God first changes our dead, God hating heart, we will continue to reject His external call. He is the potter, we are the clay. Listen...if you knock, the door will be opened. If you ask, you will receive. If you seek, you will find. While God has ordained all that is, has been and will be, WE don't have and never will have the liberty of knowing. Nobody will be forced anywhere against their will. Thank God He changes our will otherwise everyone would perish.
