I haven't finished the DLC, but I remember the trailer had a blend of digital motifs with rather visceral anatomical/sea life imagery (reddish fluids, brain coral etc) There seems to be a theme of interweaving the digital and physical consciousnesses here

i just realised this is probably a song from marina's time working with the octarians, since it has the leitmotif from turquoise october at the end of the loop. explains the tone of the song.

Marina first used the leitmotif in the demo version of Ebb and Flow, from Octo Expansion. Which originated from her days in the Octarian army. (Edited to help people understand better)

To me, this song sounds a lot like the kind of track that a pop star would release during an experimental solo phase or to make their public image more "mature". Makes me think of how Madonna and Britney both had a "leather" phase when they went from being wholesome Disney-esque girl stereotypes to being bad bitches in leather. This song is Marina's leather phase.

When I first heard the song I thought that at 1:23 it was marina breaking free and trying to talk to me during the fight. It made me so sad to think she was trapped in her own mind. I also notice many similarities to nasty majesty in it repetitive melody but without pearl This song is almost plain sounding showing how much pearl brings to off the hooks songs and overall identity.
