I’m starting to feel cheated by the school I attended… I am going to take this video as permission to get lost in the details, lost in the process, and not care if a drawing or painting takes me 200 hours… a wise man from Toy Story once said, “you can’t rush art” I wish I had held fast to those words. Thank you for posting your journey, this drawing is absolutely beautiful, and you have given me inspiration and confirmation in what I need to be doing. Thanks again!

The reason why they are not encouraging spending 200 hours on a piece at school is that its not practical. No one says you shouldnt do it but most people dont have 200 hours to spend. Thats also why you are given many tools, tips, techniques, tricks etc to be more efficient.

Also, they tell you not to focus on details first. Before the details, he did the general form.
