This video provided a ton of context that peftectly supports an item design I didn't know I needed: Necromancy=Shadow=Erebus Banite=fossilized shadow leviathan blood And dragonkin experimenting with shadow anima. The item: a t90 super d-fire shield involving the Rot6 shields and a baneite based mounting bracket for the draconic visage.

In osrs's Desert Treasure 2 quest, the shadow realm pops up before you fight the Whisperer. There are 2 items that "Help to protect you from the influence of the Shadow Realm", the Shadow Blocker (some kind of lamp thing) and the Revitalizing Idol which is a flower in a jar. The Revitalizing Idol is weird as it's just nature in a jar but that's basically like an Idol to Guthix! Maybe Guthix/Nature can repel shadow?

Hey odd thing probably nothing but have you noticed the golden mouth piece behind Zaros throne looks like the bottom half of sliskes mouth ,I know it’s probably nothing but sliske probably has something to do with everything that has happened. So the shadow is from somewhere else, and it slowly fills up the universe up to even Gelinor. What if the point of the Elder God cycle is to actually either clear out the shadow, or "move" to a new place in the universe not yet corrupted by shadow. This would likely be tied into the reason the elder gods must die and be reborn, such as maybe they are trying to either cleanse themselves of the shadow that slowly corrupts them as they live in an area it has infested, or evolve into beings that can handle/resist/control it. Maybe this also is tied into the reason why they keep wiping out life and rebuilding it, hoping to create life that can do it instead of them, so that they either control that life or assimilate it to obtain that ability. That would actually lead to a big plot point in the future, that Guthix actually was their great success, though if they know it or not is unclear. Guthix infused the World guardian with Shadow, which is why we were immune to the Divine Anima of the Gods letting us fight against them. Our Soul is part shadow and as it is the antithesis of Gods magic, their spells would be repelled by it rendering us nearly completely immune. In this Theory, Guthix was the great success of their plan, a being who could control shadow. But he failed in that he was too kind and died. But he left a successor, a being who is now part anima and part shadow, the World guardian. "do you really think you can save them", well, we may be the only being in the universe who even could stand a chance. The gods may be forced to ally again, and maybe even the elder gods too, to pour power into the World guardian, who can convert it into shadow power to fight against the Shadow leviathans.

you hit the nail on the head, to add maybe - i've pondered if the reason it's always known our name is because of the cycle of reincarnation. it's touched upon in lady himikos journal regarding Xau Tak, but there is a full cosmology talk that Mod Stu does at 2017 i included some of, it's almost like the elder gods are constantly going "up" and away from the shadow that engulfs the universe. imagine the deep sea if you will. theyre constantly and forever a bouy of anima and life constantly escaping the predator beneath. THE DEEP. haha also i love how much you know about the lore, glad to have a nice conversation on it this morning. i'm gonna do a life and death of guthix soon but i will be doing another vid like this on the sixth Elder God revealed - The Ancient Sleeping Enemy to Sentience.

29:43 Xau-Tak power level is not -1 but the square root of -1, i.e. the imaginary unit i. If taken literally, then the magnitude of Xau-Taks power is 1 (Tier 1) but it is measured along a different axis to the other (elder) gods.

Also Taraket only looks the way he does because most of the dungeons reused assets. Taraket was just given a recolored version of Tarakets mid transform

I would say it's intentional even though it's re used, due to tarshak being one of the individuals that saw the hands prior, a long with the several other pieces of evidence regarding the physical similarity between the two. Even if the NPC were completely different they still share almost all properties but in a less pure state. Once a Dragonkin, now something else. I just don't think there's multiple forces accomplishing the same things, called the shadow, that summons black hands ultimately.

Aren't the Elder Gods at their weakest before their rebirth? That's why they lay there eggs on the perfect world and absorb the anima to replenish themselves. Would be different if the shadow leviathan dragged Jas into Erebus after absorbing all planets anima in the universe. Xau-Tak and Erebus is so interesting like the gods were back in the day before The World Wakes quest. Would love to see more on Vos. I wonder, are Xau-Tak and Vos dead Elder Gods or a amalgamations of many from countless Revisions? The giant beings, Shadow leviathans, hunt for any light(anima) and have pure hatred for it. Shadow Anima could have been from the first universes and gained strength over time or when the elders die, there energy darkens. When a young god dies their energy is dispersed where they die. Same could be for the elders. Necromancy and Erebus/Shadow Realm are directly related. On a side note, the pristine or pure anima of Iaia prevented the non-sapient life from reproducing much and they nearly went extinct, wonder if that will play a part way later.

Your player character, killed sliske who killed guthix and then went on to sacrifice thier guardian powers to banish zamora back to infernus who then after became an extremely powerful necromancer, so by any means your character is technically a demi God and can indeed save ghilenor from Xau Tak but who knows? just waiting for the quest line where ur character finally becomes a god.

Never thought about bane coming from the leviathan but it makes so much sense. Chances are it broke through the rift and needed all 4 elders to take care of it and then the codex was built to prevent further incursions.

I'm not yet convinced that Xau-tak is the size of erebus itself. 1) We've seen Erebus, and no Xau-tak. 2) If Xau-tak is that size, there is no point even comparing him to the term 'elder god,' because he's way more powerful. Yes, I know that Jas lost to a Leviathan, but wasn't Jas not yet full grown when that happened?

its not the size of erebus, not once did i ever say that but also wrong in pieces of hate it reaches directly out of erebus. i assume then 12 different instances of its followers using erebral energy for no reason, and developers stating it will always appear with necromancy isnt convincing enough. i cant comment on it being no point, i could apply that to anything. Jas was fully grown and the mightest being in existence, so also wrong. however most leviathons are the size of worlds so the one that folded her was incredibly small comparatively.
