Uncovering the Hidden Gems of Disney World Deluxe Resorts

Am I missing something here? I really don’t understand the obsession with the Polynesian. When I stayed there I found the theming a bit tacky, staff were a bit hit and miss, dining options are lacking compared to other deluxe resorts, where ohana eating is treated like is a sport with how fast they are trying to get you through your meal. The long houses felt remote, and not apart of the main resort, I did not feel that at the grand for example. Theme park rooms in some of the buildings are now partially blocked by the bungalow’s. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a bad resort by any means, but I really don’t understand why lots of people rate it number one lol.

We enjoy it but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You can't go wrong with any of the Disney resorts!

I really don’t understand why everyone’s rating poly so high. I’m not the only one. Unless the “Hawaiian” thing is the must for you, stay away from this hotel. None of the aspect about this hotel is exceptional. In comparison, crescent lake hotels are much better in terms of service.

Polynesian was the worst Deluxe we have stayed in and the only one we haven’t stayed in is Riviera. It was the absolute worst experience in all areas except O’Hana for breakfast. Everything else was horrible. Favorites are Beach Club, Grand Floridian, and AKL.

FYI old Key West also has dole whip and seasonally it’s key lime dole whip!

So Key West is always tricky because technically it's part of DVC! I do love the room options at the resort though and have stayed many times!

Riviera is just DVC too. But all have a few rooms available for cash

I prefer BEach club to Boardwalk. I think the rooms are bigger. And the resort is less noisy. So all the good things about board walk is steps away from Beach club. Plus Beach has the best pool area in all Disney World. I'd rank Beach club higher.

How anyone says AKL is not #1 always baffles me? The lobby is a hands down #1. The grounds are #1. They have giraffes. Zebras. c'mon man!

@@TheParkProdigy My Rankings: 1 AKL (Jambo) 2 WL (it's my first love, boat to MK) 3 GF (lobby vibe when bands/piano played) 4 BC/YC (that pool... or much lower) 5 Boardwalk (Entertainment... water taxis) 6 Poly (no lobby vibe) 7 Contemp (hotel in a train station LOL) 8 Saratoga (great room, like offsite)

I was looking for a video for my wife to watch to help us decide on our perfect vacation. She's been once and off property, and I few times at every hotel level. Your list is almost upside down from mine. The few that I know I won't stay are your favorites. Animal Kingdom is super expensive, and the buses are more than "a few minutes". Polynesian looks ok, but for the monorail loop, this is my least favorite. My wife and I love Hawaii, and this is almost corny. Sorry. The GF is one I struggle with. On one of my visits, I found it a little pretentious. Love it, but not what I look for on a vacation. I don't care dressing up for high tea.

Hated the Poly. One and done for us. Grand Floridian was ok. Animal Kingdom wasn't a fave. Loved Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge.

@@TheParkProdigy Via Napoli in Epcot is my favorite for pizza! However, the Short Rib French Dip Flatbread at Ale & Compass in Yacht Club is very high on my list!

Stormalong bay should be enough on its own to put it higher than boardwalk. Anyone can go to the boardwalk, but only guests at Beach or Yacht club can do the stormalong bay

Sorry, but hands down, Yacht Club is my all time favorite. Ive stayed there twice. I love everything about it. Ive stayed at Beach Club also. Location alone should rate both of these much higher.
