I wish I could have shown more in the video, but it would have been way too long. There is so much more at Ardgillan worth visiting and exploring. I might make a part 2!

Visited this place hundreds of times but never knew so much of what you include here. Nice job 👍

Thank you for watching and for your comment! Yes, it is full of history and it links in with other estates. Have you taken the tour? I hear now in the summer the gardens are exploding with colour!

@@MyViewsOfTheWorld I have had a look through the interior some years ago. I think I had access through one of my kids being invited to a kids party there, so never got the history. It’s a lovely spot. The view of the Sea always seems almost confusingly impressive.

They have restored it further. Every visit there seems to be a new room open for visitors. I intend on revisiting in the future to see what is new.

The library and the gardens look great! These walls with books remind secret rooms behind the bookstand

Yes! This castle actually has hidden hallways for the servants. Sadly, no secret passages I could find. Thanks for watching.

Cromwell did not receive fame in Ireland , but infamy . He conducted a campaign of genocidal barbarism against the civilian population , butchering men and women alike , as casually dismissed " in defending English interests " . Many big houses , owned by rapacious absentee landlords living in England , were burnt to the ground by Irish rebels , who were denied the ownership of property , denied education and the right to practice their religion . Having insufficient land to feed themselves the potato was the main diet . These landlords ensured that a potato blight would lead to famine - absentee genocide . Those house that " survived " until to-day do so because their tenants were treated better than most . Trivially treated history has it's own agenda too . Ghost stories ,aren't they great ?

That is true, I should have said infamy. It was a dark time for Ireland indeed and the Irish Rebellion is one topic I need to cover in a future video. Ireland has a lot of history, unfortunately, like anywhere else, a lot of it is dark, but it is an amazing country with amazing people, which is why, out of all the countries in the world, I am here now. Thank you for watching and for your message.
