Why was this cut from the DVD release? There was nothing wrong with the footage.They added the scene where Rodney Adams beats up Spider Simpson on the dvd and the footage was of poorer quality.That is why it was cut from TV after the initial screening.

It was cut because it was already cut on the inferior 'master copies' used for the dvd release, incidentally the Spider Simpson bashing was also cut from the master tapes used, not because of poor quality but for violence. FYI, the company responsible for the DVD release used master tapes returned to them from ITV, Channel 5, Channel 10 and TV4 in Sweden, some had tape damage and some had scenes already cut or trimmed. Unfortunately these inferior tapes resulted in many more edits in the dvd release than just the Spider bashing, Bongo shooting and the Ros terrorist escape. My version of the Spider bashing recorded from ITV is far superior to the version which was replaced for the dvd.

They should have left everything uncut on the DVDs. It's an old show, of course we know the master tapes are going to be a little damaged.

"Some small edits" - Some episodes have had severe cuts especially those that feature Edna Pearson. People tend to expect DVD releases nowadays to be uncut, as cuts however small tend to spoil a release. If companies like Shock want to release series they should at least do it properly. As for "poor quality master tapes", if they can turn black and white into colour.restore VHS footage into broadcast qualiry material then surly the master tapes could have been restored to an acceptable quality.

I agree that it must have been because they had unreliable master tapes as well, because there are other violent scenes and they are kept in the show on the master tapes, or we wouldn't have seen them on ITV or Five, or even on the DVDs if all violent scenes were censored. It's a shame that certain parts were censored. Other bits that were removed were due to tape damage, but the rest of the scenes, violent or not, were all in good condition, so they should have been left intact.

Yes it is great having PCBH released on DVD, however NOT when so much of it seems to be edited no good reason. Excuses have been given of "poor quality masters" but surely a copy of those would be the same that were used on the ITV and Five screenings. This to me spoils the DVd realeases and until restored I won't be buying any of the DVD's. Shock have in my opinion made a right mess of the DVD releases.

+Stephen O'Donnell: How mads that?....I was just telling my mate the exact same thing over the phone just now hahahahaha!!!!....Only now, he's playing Rita's "Older" brother, as oppose to being her "Younger" brother. In the new ones, he must be at least 15 yrs older than this new Rita. She must be pushing mid-40's, and he's now currently, according to IMDB 59 yrs old....Glenda Linscott played an amazing Rita Connors. Pity the new one doesn't look as menacing, nor as tall as the original....
