Uncut Pete Doherty Interview on Release From Prison (2008)

On 6 May 2008, singer-songwriter, musician, and poet Peter Doherty held an impromptu press conference by the gates of Wormwood Scrubs following his release from the West London prison. The renowned bad boy of noughties rock had served four weeks of a 14-week prison sentence handed down to him after the Libertines frontman breached a probation order. Expecting to be picked up by his manager, Doherty emerged to find a press pack awaiting him before learning that his manager was late. While he tried to track down a lift home, Doherty spoke to the assembled journalists about his latest stint in prison. He showed the cameras a certificate confirming he had passed a drugs test while inside, as well as a few pages of a journal he had kept over the past month. Summing up his experience, Doherty described prison life as "a lot of gangsters and Radio 4".

Its disgusting how Pete has been treated by media, police too when certain politicians lied about WO Mass Destruction in Iraq and Assange was wrongly fitted up on false charges. It just shows the hypocracy of the media in how they pick on anyone who doesnt fit their narrative like David Icke and even john Wedger and Sonia Poulton have been virtually ignored when theyve told the truth in exposing Edward Heath, Thatcher and many others who are allegedly shameful bad people allegedly guilty of lies, war crimes, bad stuff with minors and so many others out there are no better. Some are so blind and despite in some cases having university education, lots of money and supposedly being considered by some as good people, they stay quiet on evil doers yet point a finger at poor Pete who has been a scapegoat in the media and victim of a witch hunt. Clearly there are some out there powdering their snouts or cleaning dirty money made from massive profits by cartels and clearly huge bribes are paid to dodgy power brokers in justice, enforcement yet few MPs care about those homeless, many suffering damaged lives from serving the country or are victims of awful crimes against them as minors. Those in greenhouses shouldnt throw stones and it would be great to see gratitude to god for their fortunate blessed lives, good health and stability financially. Life isnt black or white. There are so many ambiguous factors and but by the grace of god, anyone can be very unfortunate tommorow. Some compassion, understanding, forgiveness and kindness should be shown and someone ilk e Ant of Ant and Dec fame was also addicted to painkiller medication and many professionals are drinking, snorting and much worse. It seems that certain top film stars and music stars like those in the 27 club are treated like gods like Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison and Brian Jones and John Balushi of blues brothers fame whilst pete is slaughtered. He hasnt been a debauched predator like some very famous stars who allegedly have been hammered and with 14 year old girls. Elvis was allegedly a star who loved to chase girls who were e or 4 years too young to be able to give informed consent yet if a victim ends up famous and on opiates to cope with the PTSD and traumatic mental illness because of the horrors suffered, many wont ask why but will be brutally hounded by these pariahs in the media who clearly are in some cases prepared to destroy victims to make money, fame and have no conscience about doing so even if the victim commits suicide. Look at others who are guilty of far worse like those evil ones on Epsteins kg et for example and elite involved with Adrenochrome, satanism and whats hidden behind closed doors that we cant talk about as johnny Rotten said. Now he is a true working class hero with morals who is truthful and isnt afraid to say the truth. God bless those good people out there.

I used to think like that about him. Hadn’t heard any of his music and just went by how the media portrayed him. It wasn’t until around 2014 when I started listening to the libertines, babyshambles etc that I started to realise how talented he is. Having struggled with addiction myself I found myself relating to him a lot more and my view completely changed. I won’t deny some of his behaviour didn’t help with the publics view of him but overall I think he’s incredibly talented and a sensitive soul. Massive fan now and met him at his book signing. Very down to earth and softly spoken.
