Thank you for setting the record straight. The strawman arguments drive me insane. No one says jordan was perfect. His career is a story of greatness. The ups and downs and challenges he overcame is what makes him so great. There was never a paid media campaign to convince everyone he was the goat. It was organic and evident from his output. He has no major failures or embarrassments like leflop. Did he lose? Of course. Did he miss shots? Of course, but no one is saying otherwise, and its such a dishonest tactic to deflect from all of lechokes numerous embarrassments and choke jobs.

I guess you have never researched how Nike & David Stern/NBA made MJ the face of the league to drive viewership once the old guard BOS/DET's team faded. MJ was in every damn commercial in the 90's. He had a golden whistle in the 90's. It has already been proven his steals numbers were heavily inflated. On top of the fact you have All NBA talent like Magic Johnson making jokes about how he didnt want to get too close to MJ during a photo shoot- for fear of being called for a foul. Literally on video, which is widely available. Literally everything you accuse the media does for Lebron, was already done for MJ- in a watered down, less talented era of the 90's.

If Lebron didnt "flee to another franchise", Cleveland wouldnt have got the 3 #1 draft picks they got while he was in Miami, and neither the Cavs or Lebron would have won a single championship. So it's stupid to hold that against him. Jordan got lucky he got some good team mates eventually, the rules were different in Lebron's era and it was harder to do that. He also did leave the Bulls twice, so it's not like he was so loyal. The Bulls clearly tanked (a form of cheating) to draft Jordan, that's not something to be proud of.

However, in retrospect, especially with the rise of 3 point shooting in the 2000s, it's pretty clear that he was the best player of his generation. Despite that, around the time he won his 3rd MVP in a row, he admitted that Jordan was the best player he had ever seen. Bird wasn't arrogant. He was very confident. That's what people don't get. MJ actually 'sacrificed' ball dominance numbers in order to win. Text Winter's offense is not statistically favorable to the centerpiece of the offense (the high/low post player in the triangle schema), but if that player is effective at his role, the team is in a better position to thrive and win. Jordan was a better player in the 90's than the 80's even tho some of his all around stats were somewhat lower; but trying to explain the actual mechanics of an offense to todays fans... that's a fool's errand. The modern fan views basketball the way a bean-counter reads a spreadsheet. 99% of NBA fans today do not understand even the first part of actual basketball strategy.

I asked a volleyball player the following question: "Player A is a setter who has the most points all time but a losing record in the championships. Player B is a spiker with the most seasons leading in points and a winning record in championships. Which is the better player?" After they asked how great player B's setter was, I said they had above-average setting skills and the spiker often used their own talent to get points. They answered player B was better because it sounded like they used their talent to adapt to any situation and win. Remove the politics and agendas attached to the names LeBron and Jordan, you'll find real recognizes real.

Everything about the league was so beautiful back then. The court, the general aesthetic, the music, the commentary and voices. Now the league has been utterly ghettoized and those State Farm logos on the baskets is so distracting. The league is unrecognizable now and it’s such a shame.

Jordan was the best All-Around player to ever play. His mentality about the game was as strong as his game was. Almost a perfect player both mentally and physically. That's what makes him different than todays players. Jordan got the Flu, destroyed the Jazz in 97'. When LeBron gets a sliver he's out for 3 games, and blames his teammates for the sliver. Lol. Jordan is to basketball what Bruce Lee is to the Martial Arts world. People say LeBron is better, well 20 years later somebody should be better, but it's not LeBron.

I mean this respectfully but Jordan was averaging godlike numbers against the Celtics. By himself Jordan somehow made some of those games close and even Bird had to call him “black Jesus” nothing against Bird I think he’s top 5 easily, but Jordan was a different animal.

I really don't get it. MJ is unequivocally the GOAT. He stopped other GOATs from achieving GOAT status. He was an icon not just for ball but for the entire world.
@brendanbloom336612 сағат бұрын
Not true. He plays a team game and they never stopped Hakeem they lost to Shaq and Magic and had to get Rodman and they never played wilt or Russell and they never played the 83 Sixers or the 70s knicks and they never stopped bird and the Celtics or the showtime lakers.

I met and played pick up games with MJ. He is friendly, kind and even when he became the most recognized person in the world, didn't act like he was better than you (other than extremely competitive). I watched or listened to every game live at the time. In the beginning of his career, he had duds as teammates and MJ wanted to turn things around for Chicago. It's what was expected of him and what he expected of himself. Once he could count on his team, he passed more frequently.

I’m so glad that UC Hoops is showing the CHI vs DET games. One would imagined that it would have showed the numerous hard fouls or DET trying to hurt MJ, which is the reason a scrub CHI team couldn’t beat DET. I'm a huge Michael Jordan fan, been watching him since the early 90s as a kid, but I have to be fair and balanced, you said he "made all the right plays all the right choices" down the stretch of game 5 vs the Cavs in 89s... what about the bad lay up attempt against three players with 40 seconds left with the Bulls down by 1?... that is a less than optimal FG attempt during the most important stretch of the game. MJ is as close to perfect as you can get for any player down the stretch of a game but even he isn't perfect, let's just be unbiased here Uncut.

Jordan was like Einstein on the court. His basketball IQ was superior. For example at 2:29, he steals the ball at the highest point and push it up a lil higher so the defender couldn't get to it.

For whatever reason, they think all the 'bad' stuff about Jordan is newly exposed. But nothing that is talked about today, the gambling, being an ahole, the way he treating teammates, mistresses, is new information. We all knew about all of it. The early loses, the teams drug use, all of it. But we knew the reasons, the stories. But they feel like they're exposing it all for the first time. But his play spoke for itself. There were no narratives needed.
