Playing wargames got me interested in history - Which led me to wanting to learn about the cultures involved 🥰 Some even helped me learn math since you had to calculate odd as well as other math operations 🥰 Wow - His actual hand written flight log - Thats an amazing find and piece of history 😇

Fun to watch this, but doing the chat is distracting from the focus of the video. It’s like the game is not good enough to pay attention to, you need diversions. THAT is the impression you leave, and it doesn’t sell the game. You also don’t need cameras on your heads. Voice is plenty. I would recommend leaving chat out, or not interacting with it while you play. Most of the chat is not even related to what you are playing. I’m here to watch you play this game, not know the unrelated personal details of random people in a chat. If you absolutely need to have a chat to keep you interested, keep the chat screen off screen and respond only to questions related to the game you are playing, if people want to see chat comments, there is an option in KZbin to watch chat replay. You don’t need to show it on screen. lol! (swim competition chat while your partner is trying to play???) Focus dude! You’re a game channel, not a hair salon.

If this was just a recorded playthrough, I would totally agree with you; however, because the focus of this particular video is the live part, we decided to stay true to the spirit of live chat. Uploading the video after the fact is not the main purpose, but the interaction with the community is. I completely understand that this style is not for everyone, and that's ok. There are so many amazing content creators out there that do incredible work for the community. Hopefully you can find a channel that fits your preferences and can help support their work. You obviously should do what you want but I can see you have a low amount of subscribers, and one of the ways to gain subscribers is to not let chat interfere with flow. I’m going to refer you to some pro channels like Paul Grogan, who balance this ability quite well. He also has a live game chat, but it is never ever intrusive on the gameplay. He’s never staring at the camera dealing with chats. People are respectfully watching and not intruding too much on his gameplay. Your enthusiasm level is great. If you absolutely do not care about gaining subs, and this channel is for your fun, then of course do whatever feels good to you. Believe me, I’ve gone through this myself and there’s a reason I have 130,000 gained in two years. I learned from my mistakes. I run live chats on a weekly basis, but they are done completely differently, and are not intrusive on the viewer. This is the first video I’ve seen from your channel and you have to remember first impressions are very strong for people when they think about clicking the subscribe button. And thanks for responding. that’s always super important and I’m glad to see that you’re not ignoring comments . Many channels do this, and I definitely will never subscribe to them just for that reason alone. Btw, you should never tell an interested customer to take his business elsewhere. “ there are tons of other channels you could watch.” Unless someone is obviously trolling you.

Thank you for the advice; however, we both have full-time jobs and are not doing this channel to make any money. We have been a part of Boardgame communities that weren't very respectful, friendly or welcoming. Our sole purpose is to build a friendly community where everyone feels respected and welcome. The subs, money and likes are the furthest from our desires. We have decided that our community is our number one priority and have a discord server, Facebook group and these live chats for that reason. I wouldn't want to sacrifice any of that for more subs. Also, we only want to promote the wonderful world of board gaming and if that means pointing out other great content creators that might suit your needs, then that's what we want. We want people to simply enjoy themselves in this hobby the best that they can. We are close to many great content creators and we hope others can enjoy their content as well. Again, I really do appreciate the advice, but profit has never been or goal. Positive and safe spaces is our goal. I hope this makes sense. Happy gaming 😊. Micheal

I love the Nerd Shelves live playthroughs and all the chat. They make us all part of the community and I am sad when I have to miss, even when I’m missing to play board games.
