Just a piece of advice, you should probably seal in your piece with a matte varnish (such as DuraClear matte varnish) and water it down by about 60% then give your piece about 2-3 coats of the watered down varnish. The reason you need to water it down is bc no matter how matte the packaging claims it is, it won’t be completely matte unless you REALLY water it down. The reason you want to do this is bc acrylic paints can scratch off reeeeaally easy, and you don’t want it to scratch off after all that time and effort you put into painting it!! Like so she can see this
@arandomcat96476 жыл бұрын
What about mod podge and yeah I do agree I got a small bottle of matte mod podge and it is not matte I won't watter it down cuz idc really well I think I got matte

NerdECrafter You’re welcome! Beautiful piece by the way, the Nergigante turned out absolutely amazing!!
@Pigeon.Feather6 жыл бұрын
One quick thing, did u learn this from dollightful?
@jamiezdead6 жыл бұрын
Star the Shiny Umbreon Actually, kinda!(ish). I used to use duraclear matte varnish and used a ratio of 75% water to 25% varnish, which always works, but as you could imagine, it took a couple coats more than doing it with 60% water to 40% varnish. So I guess kinda, but also not really, because I already watered down my varnish and used duraclear anyways.

HOW CAN YOU MAKE YOUR CLAY SO SOFT AND EASY TO SMOOTH, EVERY TIME I SCULPT MY SCULPTURE ENDS UP WITH A WERRD SPOTTY CELLULITE
@cass36366 жыл бұрын
Depends on which brand of clay, i found that cheep polymer clays do that (and cheap paper play too) but sculpy warms up in your hands and gets nice and smooth when you use it, proper tools can help too!
@jamiezdead6 жыл бұрын

Wait, why are you doing the % of the material you use? If you use even a little of whatever material, you still have to pay for the whole container. So I'm not sure how that works...
@TaliseSnyder6 жыл бұрын
Well the thing is she can use the rest of the material for a different project so technically the money to buy the whole package is not spent just on this.
@Missyshenanigan886 жыл бұрын
Talise Snyder but she calls this a $10 sculpt. You would NOT be able to buy the supplies for this sculpt for $10.
@TaliseSnyder6 жыл бұрын
The supplies, no, but the material spent specifically on this sculpture is worth $10

How about using cooking instead? Try to buy a tablespoon of butter, a pinch of salt and two eggs to make scrambled eggs. I say try because it's impossible. If a pound of butter, a pound of salt and a pound of eggs cost you, say, 10 dollars, you CAN'T say that two scrambled eggs cost 10 dollars. You're gonna make your scrambled eggs and USE the left over ingredients to make more meals. That's why she uses a %.

Nice Job. Maybe add more texture in your creations Next time. Make the Skin of this Monster ruff, add Texture to the horns, cause most horns aren't smooth. It gives your pieces a more realistic look. Hey.... I was wondering if you could bake things like wood, acrylic paints, and metal pieces with sculpey clay? I'm 15 and I like to make things like cute marshmallows and other little charms for my friends but sometimes things like pedestals and other frames could help with it... thanks alot!
@nerdecrafter6 жыл бұрын
+Kate Hebert youcan bake wood as long as it's not treated or strained. You can alla so bake acrylic paint that was put on sculpey. As long as your oven isn't gas or with flames :)

I started working with polymer clay before liquid Sculpey was a thing. I found that to get the clay to stick to the wire was to do a wrap of 28 or 30 gauge wire around the thicker wire to create enough texture for the clay to stick.

Hey you should do a fuse bead review. I don't know what brand you can get because it depends on what country you live but in the US/Canada they sell perler beads, in the UK they sell Hama, At IKEA stores they sell Pyssla beads, and at Walmart they sell melty beads. That turned out really good, and I like the price idea you added in there. It makes me want to do something like that, but I am too busy at the moment. Prepping books for an art fair, and then traveling for vacation. After that I did want to make a polymer GlaDOS, incased in resin.... But after that I will try my hand at an angel the way you did your monster master piece. Warning she will be light on the clothing... all my angels are. :D But awesome work. I enjoyed this one (like all the others). Glad the break that happened was salvageable.
