I agree, however the cheapest from bunnings is 18 bucks so I couldn't fit it in the budget, defs the next hand tool to get though

Good video. I fully support the craftright screwdrivers.. a whole set for $9 that are actually half decent. Used them in all sorts of scenarios, construction and industrial - they do the job like any other.

Nice video mate speaking as a Bunnings Toolshop guy I do get asked about what a future sparky needs first up and I advise them to get pretty much what you just posted

Lots of expensive power tools in your collection, but no $70 pair of moulded earplugs. They are worth it if you work in construction sites where there is always a saw operating nearby. Much more compact than earmuffs as well and you clip them onto the back of your shirt collars for easy access.

If your looking to buy tools that can last as long as they can what do reckon of kits like the wiha electrcians kit and the wera/knipex kits?
@coreybruhn
@coreybruhn Жыл бұрын
Honestly these kits are kind of rip offs. A sparky I work with swears by Wiha though so worth checking out the brand if you have the money. You're better off going through the specific tools you need individually rather than buying them as a kit (unless they're power tools). If you're worried about tools lasting, it's all about how you treat them but at the end of the day they're gonna get abused anyway

Atleast if they don’t like sparky work then it’s not a huge amount of money lost.

Would you include a multimeter / pen?

Hey mate, in the video I recommend buying the Fluke T5-1000 during your first few months of your apprenticeship, at the moment they go for $369.60 AUD. If you have the money by all means purchase it straight away, however I understand it's pretty expensive for an apprentice right at the beginning. When you say pen are you talking about a Volt stick?
@zakhargreaves4379
@zakhargreaves4379 Жыл бұрын
@@coreybruhn Maybe a simple multimeter to suffice? That’s correct a Volt Stick / Detector Pen 😊 I have to say, your videos are great btw! Keep the content coming 🙌

@@zakhargreaves4379 If you're just working in domestic/commercial you don't really need a multimeter with all the bells and whistles. Look at brands like Fluke, Wattmaster and Klein and see what voltage/continuity testers they have for cheap. Make sure it can test voltage at a minimum of 600V. Like I said I know it's expensive but you really don't want to go cheap on a tester, that's why I spent a bit more when I was a 1st year and bought a Fluke (I claimed it all on tax). As for a Volt stick/pen, I own a Fluke non-contact AC Voltage Tester which cost me $92. You can get cheaper ones online from eBay. I strongly suggest you get a voltage tester with leads before you get a volt stick as you don't want to become too reliant on them. When I was a 1st year I zapped myself because I put too much trust into one

@@coreybruhnOk. Also, what about a multimeter? A vid on meters would be good. Comparing difference brands and measuring their effectiveness for the cost
@coreybruhn

Defs will eventually make a video on meters. For the time being though go for a Fluke T6-1000. Best voltage tester you'll find

I didn’t have to watch the video , that all is junk. If you’re an apprentice just order an apprentice kit from Klein , plenty of kits for under $200. If anyone watches this for the love of all things holy , don’t buy these tools and then try and do electrical work professionally
@coreybruhn
@coreybruhn Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, the point of this video (which I did mention) was to help out electrical apprentices before day one of the trade who have little money to spend. Not everyone is fortunate enough to buy high quality tools at the beginning and rocking up to work with these on your first day is much better than nothing. I couldn't find any Klein kits for under $200 in Australia, plus these kits don't cover every essential tool so you'd be spending even more
