Steve when I was 16 my parents forced me to sell my motorcycle...I rode to dangerous levels which they did not take fondly to.I bought a complete Yamaha NS system(1982/3) which sounded amazing(turntable,tape deck,amp with loudness switch,speakers and an equalizer).Today I still have the bug which continues to effect my savings.

Rene, I started when I was around 13, loved to hear my friends, neighbors, etc. started building one piece at a time, many earlier pieces weren’t so good. Fast forward 33 years, I’m 46 years old now, love it more than ever, it’s a hobby, when I have some disposable cash, I buy something, when I don’t, I can still enjoy what I already bought. Thank you for helping to keep this hobby alive.

I have been into it since I was 16 in some form or another. I think I just settled into a stereo/ home theater hobby at age 30 out of realizing so much of what I do revolves around enjoying media. I am a DIY person on some things, but I have only made 4 sets of DIY speakers and 5 DIY subwoofers since I was 16 and only one pair of speakers in the past 3 years. I just like my LS50's more than any of the speakers I have done DIY right now.

Yes I've been into it since I was like 10 and my dad bought 2 giant speakers for our basement. And it said 500w on each of them and I was just amazed at how deep the music was and not shitty bass either. But we should start like an online club for younger audiophiles.

Im 31 and have been into audio since around 2001. Started with records, now i work for an audio company and do diy projects on the side, mostly into the vintage gear myself as its repairable and each unit has its own sound too it.

I have several friends under 25 who are just getting into vinyl and are trying to upgrade their systems. One of them is really into classic rock and just purchased Rush's first album on vinyl. I've been showing him how to clean his records and to care for them---its a very refreshing experience and it reminds me of my younger days.

I got a pair of Polk Monitor 10a's the other week for $100 off Facebook marketplace. I love them very much. They are a joy to listen to. Especially at $100. I have them paired with a klipsch 10 inch sub and it sounds amazing

I really loved this video! Had to subscribe. My did was a HiFi enthusiast, had an old tube mono Klipsch corner speaker he built and a Knight amp and tuner. I had Realistic Minimus 7 system in the 80's. I got on my own and moved way to often and got very small systems from then on. Today a laptop is my system, vintage gateway 2000 speakers, will upgrade to a 3 piece with sub and maybe a newer pc. I became a fan of your channel a few days ago. Passing the HiFi legacy to a new generation. Awesome!

Very cool video! Nice to see some young people into the hobby. Makes me reflect back to my own beginning. I was always into what we called "gadgets" then. That included anything from transistor radio on up. Bought my first "system"(an all-in-one) at 18 after entering the military. A year later I realized "separates" were the way to go. And I've been on the journey ever since. I now have two bona-fide home theaters and an old-school music listening-station(Sony STR-AV720 receiver, Technics SL-QD3 turntable, Kenwood KR2-400 cassette deck, Teac X-2000R reel-to-reel, Pioneer H-R99 is 8-track player with Bose 501 speakers). And yes I have material for all of it. Lol! Enjoy your ride young people. It's a journey that can bring you a lot of enjoyment!

It warms my heart to see some Polks in this video, being from Baltimore myself they're always going to have a place in my heart. Currently running monitor 70s for my L&R, Tsi CS10 center and lsim 702s for surround, hopefully one day lsim 707s and 706 to upgrade the front. Running off a Pioneer Elite VSX-LX303. Audio technica AT-LP60X with LP upgrade stylus and drive belt for now, when the budget allows I would love a Sota Comet V turntable and a receiver that has pre outs to run a separate power amp, as I said before, I love my Polks, but they're power hungry. 😁

Fantastic!! No need to worry about this hobby dying with the current white hair generation. You shared picture after picture of well thought out audiophile systems from every price range. Really nice systems. Also great to see both men and women into it. Love the DIY at the start. The AR amps in Dubai are to die for. Open baffle coax speakers. I think this was a better looking collection of stuff than many of the senior videos. Outstanding!

I bought the Mission 782 speakers new in about 2000 as part of my HT system. I still have them although they haven’t been connected to anything for sometime. They have a very nice mid range and, if I remember correctly, were EISA (European hi FI award) speaker of the year 1999/2000.

Back in the day I used to keep my LPs in two diy cabinets, and with all my kit, turntable etc on top. I honestly think that the weight of those cabinets and the 500 odd LPs made my system sound better than any rack I've bought and used since. I've gone off racks...!

I have a super big and deep cabinet DIY with rack of lps on the bottom and a lot of CDs and tt on top of the bottom rack on racketballs and a granite slab then the TT. One thing is fully clear with most of the setups, no where near enough ventilation and that tt floating on the top particularly in a non basement floor up high is kind of a problem or can be when one walks around.

@@JohnDoe-np3zk My turntable is still is on top of the diy shelf unit. My very heavy integrated plus just as heavy CD player are on the rack - and there's definite movement there. Suspended floor boards are bad news. I'm moving this year - things will change!

When I was 20 I had Dynaudio floor standers, a John Shearne Phase 1 pre with XA 200 mono blocks and a REL sub and a Merdian CD player all with high end cables. Sounded OK at the time.

Iam an old baby boomer and i didnt have a clue when i was young although friend of mine did. I was in my early twenties and a good friend in his later twenties had hh scott, empire troubador and jbl lansing. These kids know what their doing!!..i finally caught up in my forties..oracle delphi, audio research and vandersteens.

Steve I didn't know you liked those Polk speakers so much. I have the Model 10s and they really do still sound good. Other than bigger boxy cabinets, the passive radiator design seems to work a lot better than a ported design which I don't like. Anyway perhaps that 1" soft Peerless tweeter was the real winner on the Polks, it's a pretty sweet tweet.

the original Polks were great. I had a pair of Monitor 5's for a while until I traded up to Fuselier Model 3's. that kid with the Technics speakers at 2:12 looked to have a pair of Allison Acoustics sitting on the floor. My mom had a pair of Allison 6's that I got her and she loved 'em. ;)

i have a pair of vintage speakers designed by ed may for marantz, if i tell people what they are , they tell me to throw them in the garbage; however if people listen to them in my system without knowing their provenance , they are fulsome with praise.

Wow I missed this! I’m 27 and run Focal Aria 926 (found a terrific deal on the discontinued “Noyer” model) with a Peachtree Nova300. Streaming through Bluesound Node 2i. Running a 12 inch Klipsch subwoofer with plans to upgrade that portion but am undecided on what to get.

I don't have photos of it but the first good system I had consisted of Electro Research 320 speakers (by legendary John Iverson), PS Audio Elite Plus integrated amp, a Braun PS 500 turntable (designed by Dieter Rams) with Grado (can't remember the model #) cartridge, or my first turntable a Philips GA-212 with an Ortofon OM20 cartridge.

28, Genelec 8260 3 way diffractionless studio monitors with concentric drivers and Genelec 7271 dual 12" subwoofer with the largest port you've never seen, perfectly integrated with GLM. Then for surround sound, two Kali IN-5 speakers. Need more active monitors that can flawlessly play from genre to genre with a wide sweet spot and great off axis response!

@@santiagoaguilar8429 Google speaker driver sales. Parts Express, Madisound, US Speaker...just to name a few. The 15 in fullrange driver is from Lii Audio. It is 400 plus shipping for a pair. About 480 to my door. I love mine. Not intended to bang at 120 db, but great for most music.
