..... later on in life those ppl in the program went on to achieve great things and leave a legacy like no other such as the likes of Afwerk Tekele, Lauret Tsegaye, and Mulatu Astatke to name few. Some who are not with us anymore but left a lasting legacy, for them may their soul rest in peace, eternal gratitude.

My God! I was totally carried away by this breathtaking documentary. so original, so unique. Big up for the BBC team and Richard Taylor. Huge respect for Ethiopian music and art professionals back in the days and left me wonder what is happening to our young generation- to us.

Heartwarming documentary. Kudos to how you and your team have tried and successfully captured a positive glimpse of Ethiopia through its music. Sad that our music is going backwards despite all these rich resources. Strangely, it created a nostalgic feeling towards an era I don't know.

all I say is wow how beautiful are my people. how unique are our culture and how golden was this generation with outstanding people. wow what a shame to current generation including me we had such quality people that we can proud of. what a difference compare I am seeing. they are very passionate and interesting I am so proud of the 80's. the way they behave and speak was so classy. their English is so perfect, I can't believe we lost the golden generation . the current generation all we know is copying western culture and salvaging our unique identity and glory, now we're suffering from identity crisis. we think we're educated and civilized than the oldies while we are heading in to ditch, can we call it we achieved better knowledge and education. for real we are a lost generation. thank you sharing this documentary. I hope we all take to our heart.

this documentary goes beyond the surface, delving into the social fabric and history that shaped the musicians and their art. It serves as a bridge connecting the contemporary Ethiopian music scene with its deep-rooted cultural heritage. Richard's curation and the BBC's coverage are commendable. It's a nostalgic reminder of the past, but also a hopeful look to the future. ❤❤❤

There is very little footage found of Ethiopia and it's inhabitants at this time so I am very appreciative you were able to capture the beauty in this episode. I know this is part of a wonderful 5 part documentary series, whose copies are very difficult to find. I would like to humbly request the upload of Episode 3 - Algeria, which covers the Rai music of the North African continent, if it is available. I can not find it anywhere sadly.
