Under Pickerel Lake SD

Scuba diving in Pickerel Lake, a glacial lake in northeastern South Dakota. See dives in other SD locations on my KZbin Channel. This 10 minute video includes highlights from three half-hour dives in mid-June 2022. It shows some of the fish and vegetation as well as some impact of zebra mussels.

Thank you! I grew up at that lake NE bay at grandparents and uncles and aunts cabins. what an adventure. There are two very deep spots in that spring fed lake. I often wondered what history they had. Thanks for sharing..

Pretty awesome dives! We are here in Roslyn SD. And my husband said in the 30's during the drought farmers farmed there and supposedly still tractors in there too. I believe it now with that disc in there. His parents grew up in the 30s. Fascinating indeed!

I know that bass. He’s Gil Fishbach. I used to see him out at the river when we’d go camping… how he got to Pickeral lake is a mystery good job Jeff.. very interesting

Cool video! This year there seem to be tons of fish and the water is still very clear. One can easily see down 10 feet in detail (and watch fish). The item you asked folks to help identify is a blue dock mount boat bumper, it has screw/bolt holes.

Jeff! Thank you for the video! My family has a cabin on the east beach. There are rumors of a old sunken stagecoach that broke through the ice years and years ago... somewhere in the middle of the lake.

I freedove to 18.6 feet in Pickerel yesterday and that is about where the thermocline started. Did you do drysuit for this?
