Underneath your table saw extension table could be wasted space... so why not build a storage cabinet to fit? But just a storage cabinet might not be enough... how about a multi-use cabinet that can also be used as an infeed and outfeed table? Follow along as Steve makes a multi-purpose cabinet to compliment the SawStop Outfeed Table.
In Part 1, various design considerations are explored, drawings are reviewed, the hardware is demonstrated, and the Down To Earth Woodworker gets started on making the legs.

Glad to see your videos are still up, I decided that this build will be effective in my shop today, as the shop evolves and space is required to store items related to tools more effeciently.

Thank you Steve! Another great project! I really appreciate your sharing all of these super projects with us! FYI, I just checked (Oct 2020), Rockler has discontinued the locking version of those casters. They still sell the non locking versions. Makes no sense to me. I've asked them if they have a replacement for them, but haven't heard back. Of course there plenty of similar casters on Amazon and at other Woodworking stores (i.e. Highland, Woodcraft, Lee Valley etc.).

LOL! In my pre-retirement life I visited England numerous times, London and Birmingham (a lot)... I didn't have much trouble until I got into the countryside, and then there was a bit of a language barrier! I'm getting better, though, by reading a lot of John Le Carre novels! Thanks for watching!

I also have a Sawstop 52” and this is exactly my issue too. I have very limited space and was looking for ways to utilize the space under my Sawstop extension table as you’re doing here. I just came across your series and anxious to see what you come up with

Excellent video. I have an extension on my SawStop and the void under it has been bugging me. I think I’ll do something like this for it. Suggestion: duck the sound when cutting. We all know what a saw sounds like :)

GREAT stuff. Really appreciate your tone, your methods and your dedication to details many seem to think is not necessary. Regarding your outfeed table could you let me know where you got the leveling legs with screw tops. Can't seem to find them.

Looking forward to making this for my saw stop. Your usual excellent explanations are great. Have you though about shop testing the saw stop cross table addition?

Thanks so much! I would love to try out the sliding crosscut table for the SawStop but it adds a bit too much width for my shop... wish I had the room!

Great video. Love how well you explain everything. I also have a SS PCS and was a little concerned that the leg assembly seems almost too big and beefy for a cabinet that is small enough to fit underneath the saw. Would it be possible to make the legs only big enough to house the aluminum extrusion?
@downtoearthwoodworks
@downtoearthwoodworks 7 жыл бұрын
Possibly, but I remain concerned about keeping the center of gravity of the build low enough to provide stability, so there are plans for the legs... keep watching! And thanks so much!

Do you use your 'I' beams anymore? I built them off your build vid and my shop depends on them for many operations. Especially breaking down sheet goods with the Festool track saw.

I do absolutely still use them... a lot. I keep them stored upstairs in my shop because they are relatively easy to move around. Sometimes I even use them upstairs and make a quick platform or doing finishing work. My dust collector is upstairs so I added a port with a blast gate upstairs so I can comfortably do some serious sanding up there, too.

Great video as usual. Always helpful. Can you tell me which remote control switch you use for your dust collection? Half the time mine doesn't work.

Dave, thank you! The remote is the JDS that came with my dust collector. Unfortunately the JDS dust collector seems to no longer be available.

Thanks very much for replying. It's a pain in the butt when the thing doesn't work and a hazard at worst because it's distracting. Trying the Peachtree unit. Will let you know.

I replaced my remote unit (the yellow Rockler one) with a Long Ranger III from PSI Woodworking. Works like a charm. I can be in the next room and it works.

I am very new to the wood working game and I need to know...what is a tortion (sp) box?? I really like your videos.
@downtoearthwoodworks
@downtoearthwoodworks 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Donnie... a torsion box consists of two pieces of flat material between which are a honeycomb of supports. The honeycomb of supports prevents the top from warping or bending and provides, in the case of a bench top or other work surface, an absolutely flat and stable surface on which to work. You can see how a torsion box is built by watching my first couple of videos in the series on building the SawStop Outfeed Table. Thanks!

Sort of... probably not the answer you were looking for, but there have been so many reviews of the SawStop, I instead made it my goal to do every single cut on the SawStop for the SawStop Outfeed Table series, and I commented on the use of the saw throughout the series. Thanks for watching!!!
