This was a fun video idea! I personally loved Pillars of the Earth. Stick with it. It develops storylines of several characters that gives you a good sense of what life was like in that time period.

Another fabulous video, and thanks for taking us on a tour of your bookshelves! Pillars of the Earth remains on my never-ending TBR, maybe that could be a future #GBL bookclub pick🤓, some old-school peer pressure might help me stay accountable.🙈 Thanks again, and I look forward to snagging some merch soon!

You are so welcome! And that might not be bad idea about Pillars being a book club book. It would hold us accountable as well. If you do snag some merch, make sure to share pictures, as we would love to see our fans rocking it in the wild.

The Count of Monte Cristo is my favorite book!! It's long, and one part in particular is slow and potentially hard to get through, but I absolutely love it (and the movie).
@GoodBooksLately5 сағат бұрын
I think the length is the biggest hurdle to get over when thinking about starting that book.

Pillars of the Earth is good, but heavy on the engineering of architecture. Try the audio book and knit 😊. That's how i enjoyed it. It's more about the world than the characters, which is not how we're accustomed to being presented a story.
@GoodBooksLately2 күн бұрын
Not a bad idea at all. I'll pass that on to Tayler. 👍

Pillars of the Earth is a lot, but once you get into it it's very enjoyable. World Without End continues the storyline. Also good. Ken Follett writes on a variety of subjects. I've read some of his WWII novels and have enjoyed them as well. He has become one of my favorite authors.

For some reason, seeing the King novels reminded me of when I read Misery by the “Kingster” as a teenager. When I was done, I gave it to my mom to read and she told me, “I hate this so much but I can’t stop reading it!” lol.

I could have listened to you do this for another hour. Loved it! Where did get those prompts? They were great and such a fun way to reminisce about one"s reading history. You have a lot of stuff…..very cool but oh, the dust! I live on a farm and the dust that collects drives me! Pillars of the Earth…..what a tome…. I could not get past the first chapter or so, it felt like I was back in high school social studies. A hair dryer will loosen up that sticker.

Ordinary Monsters as a sequel now - came out a few weeks ago. I am listening to it and ironically enough due to the exploding end of book #1 I have struggled for the first 4 hours to grasp what was happening. Had to re-listen and read recaps of Orsinary Monsters first 😂 But now it’s good!

Pillars of the Earth is one of my favourite books I read it ages ago! But I kinda get what you mean, I have the sequel for an embarrisingly long time on my shelves already but still haven't read it. 🙈 It's just sooo long. But I know I'm probably gonna love it, so I put it on my 25 in 25, in the hopes that will give me the incentive to finally read it.🤞

Like your videos, I get a lot out of them. Let's see if I can partially return the favor. I'm now reading a book with a unique narrative style: _Augustus,_ by John Williams (author of _Stoner)_ It's an epistolary novel. Also _Bleak House_ by Charles DIckens, where the chapters alternate between a first person narrator (past tense) and a third person omniscient narrator (present tense). _The Count of Monte Cristo_ is a favorite of mine, only for those who like their revenge cold.
