I'm very excited for this album, I think once we have context of the album the songs will be even better. these new songs seem to have to do more with relation with others, which is broad but it's more focused on that than their past things

The subject matter and video are about John Wayne Gacy murders. Very dark. But not unchartered territory for HTS. For example, Black Serotonin, Disappearing Syndrome, Falling on Deaf Ears, etc. Oh, lol never mind. You immediately got the Gacy reference.

3:01 Also this bit of the song is so disturbing in such a peaceful way i adore it. The drumwork, the soft guitar solo, and that soaring long note. Real disappointed it doesn't last longer. I can't wait to experience that part live.

Chunker is my fav Hail the Sun song mostly bc lyrically its a mirror for me. However, this song is soooo fucking good. This chorus 1:36 is fucking spectacular. So far i love the theming of this entire album and its dark themes. Feels like an evolution of "Wake" (2014). Curious though if its going to share elements of 'Culture Scars' and 'Mental Knife' bc those albums were very personal. While 'Wake' was moreso a magnifying glass of how people act in social situations/power-dynamics in our not-so-peachy society. Wake did have personal tracks like "Missed Injections", "Falling On Deaf Ears", or "Cosmic Narcissim" so im just real curious to what balance this album strikes or if its going for that at all. History tells me it'll likely be both so im excited.

There was an article I read recently (I think it was actually on the equal vision website) where Donovan spoke about his inspiration and the direction he wanted to go with this album. Definitely an evolution but seems to draw and grow from the past albums. Let me go find the article.

This song is a massive grower for sure. Listened to it once yesterday and after about 5 or 6 more listens today, I can say this is definitely the best out of the singles so far. I also agree about Chunker, it was a bit of a disappointing second single even though I still think it's pretty decent.
