Cottons first fight against a Lagiacrus in a way where it isn't the easiest Flagship monster. I really hope Lagiacrus gets the Alatreon/Fatalis treatment in the future. Or they could bring back underwater combat and make the controls better.

Alatreon (except EJ to a point that I'm not going to delve into) and Fatalis are amazing fights once you learn their movesets and attack telegraphs, I can solo Fatalis and Alatreon quite well now, they are legitimately hard fights that will test your will to rise above the rest and emerge victorious... granted Lagiacrus doesn't need all that but you get the idea, he needs to be brutal and unforgiving... the first to tenth time you face it, but after that he should be fun and very managable, now I'm not a dark souls GIT GUD moron, I have successfully plays DS3 for 5 hours and haven't returned since but I like monsters that live up to their power! Lagiacrus should be beyond hard underwater and you simply annoy it enough for it to flee onto land where you deal most of your damage as he is less mobile on land, that's my opinion anyway!

@@Ra1grex I just meant in terms of new moves and such. On land he is pretty slow and while most of his attacks have a pretty large area of effect they are really easy to dodge. He defintely could use a speed increase and a few more moves that cover his blind spots.

The big thing about spears as a hunting tool is that they were so effective not just because they were pointy and had long range, but because you could throw them for greater accuracy and either kill the game by severing an important artery or piercing an organ. You can't really do that in Monster Hunter without a lot of creative liberties, considering one of the most important parts of the spear would deprive you of your weapon. My big concept for a workaround to this is to attach a length of chain to it, but I feel even then there's a lot of tricky aspects of that to work out.

At any rate, Fishing Harpoons actually do rather weak damage, so the best way to hunt Sharqs underwater is to 1 - bring S&S, 2 - count how many hits it takes to kill it (it will escape/disappear like a Kelbi), 3 - hit it one less time than that, 4 - finish it off with a Fishing Harpoon.

@Ragegamingvideos and Cotton: you can actually use a shortcut from the base in case you didn't know. Jump into the water and then swim towards the gap u can see if you head towards area 5. You arrive in area 9 and skip area 2 and 5

oh man, the missed potential of the Sharq species eventually becoming large monster hunts,.. Sure we got Zamtrios, but i'm talking about a legit Megalodon inspired large monster. There is also the missed potential of an underwater hunt of Nakarkos since it's in the lore that Nakarkos prey on juvenile Ceadeus, meanwhile adult Ceadeus can actually prey on Nakarkos in return,... it would be equally cool to have an underwater hunt against a 'naked' Nakarkos, Kraken style.

I think water combat should return. Maby thay could make a breathing apparatus in the mantle slot but slow down the timer so thay can stay underwater for ten minutes until you come up for air then it resets.

Wait a minute.... how do the hunters hold their breath underwater for so long, and how do they not surface when they get hit, which is SUPPOSED to knock the air out of them, and also isn’t the Lagiacrus powerful? Simply put, making it so you need to breath more often or when you take a hit would be incredibly annoying. This is featured as a gameplay mechanic before a realistic mechanic and is just one of the many examples we've witnessed.

I wonder if Cotton will take this to G-Rank. People always talk about Plesioth having the worst attack/hip check but I think that should go to G-Rank Lagiacrus with its double hip check move when in water.
