I think this needs to be played on a much smaller board, like a Smashdown. The borders don’t matter, so as soon as someone has 2 in a row, it’s impossible to block them and you need to KO them.

Smashdown with connect 3 would be insane. Each match changes the character select screen slightly, so you'd have to account for that when picking a new character.

I’m not sure how this would work since you can’t customize the board directly. Maybe the win condition could be increased to 4 or 5 and the number of stocks could be decreased accordinngly.

I get I'm late but if you turned on stacked echos, the character select becomes a rectangle, and you have to start from the bottom like normal connect four. Uour placement determines who goes first, if Zack loses and Jordan wins, they pick spots in order Jordan, Jackson, Zack for that turn.
