Not often I hear my name in media. Also freaky that your Eno moved to Berlin, been planning on moving there for years. Love the Polaroids, new camera looks great but I shoot instax because I’m poor. But you can’t experiment with them like you can with Polaroids. I miss being able to do that. Maybe I will again, when I get to be an artist, not a broke one. Great to see you back on here. 🙌🏾

Hey Sissi, lovely video! I like your idea of bird-watching with I-2. Maybe you can do this with a telephoto lens filter? Focusing should work at infinity as expected but it would be cool to see what would happen if you tried close-ups. Not sure about framing but maybe it doesn't matter if the telephoto effect is slight. 🤷♂

Long time commercial photographer here. I used to shoot 4x5 for some of my travel job assignments and / or Mamiya RZ67 with a polaroid back. Of course, I would shoot film but my favorite part of the jobs was getting back at my hotel room at the end of the day and going thru my 4x5 and 6x7 polaroids and taping them together to make a story. Your post made me long for those film and polaroid days...I don't think I've shot film for a client since maybe 2007 or so.

As I'm not on FB/Instagram I don't get to see much of your work, so thanks for the video. I played around with instant photography back in the 70's (yes, I'm old). I enjoy what instant photography brings to the table and appreciate that it pulls many new people into photography. However, looking back on things I often wish that many of the images I captured using an instant camera I had instead captured on film, be it negative or positive film. I've stuck with film photography over the course of my lifetime because not only do I enjoy interacting with film cameras , but it is hard to beat the archival aspect of film itself. I believe that the older we get, the more we cherish our memories.

@@SISSI_LU In all honestly I believe that you and a number of your peers are actually much more passionate about film than I've ever been. I simply had no other options when I first became interested in photography and I just grew to enjoy film photography for what it is, not unlike many other analog-based activities that have long been a part of my life. Enjoy all the energy that your youth brings along with the fact that you have so many friends that share your passion. These are the things that I most admire about yourself and so many others that are actively sharing your collective enthusiasm for film photography via social media, be it here on KZbin or elsewhere.

@@SISSI_LU Professional photography was my career, and paid for my house and everything. Unfortunately, Digital ended my living, as employers hired computer-literate staff. So call me a "boiled frog"! I still have 37 year old Polaroids, in perfect condition, with no fading. (See my comment elsewhere.) Fine Art Photography is what KZbinrs do, though it won't put food on your table. In my opinion, being "creative" is OK if you don't need to make money, and many Creatives use laboratories to do the technical stuff. Polaroid was a way for me to get photographs on 35mm film of people, in exchange for giving them an instant print. Street photography on Polaroid. I found exposure on my SX-70 very unreliable. Maybe the new i2 camera will be better? My exposure meter gives me nearly 98% perfect exposure on 35mm, 6X6cm and 5X4 inch film, without bracketing. So no reason to think setting exposure on the i2 manually would have zero spoiled dud pictures???

Maybe I should continue watching instead of commenting early, but I just wanna say that the video looks good. Like the part with you talking in the beginning. I’m also wondering if the new Polaroid camera has a more precise viewfinder so you don’t need to tilt down. Like I’m talking about the headroom tip the one person gave you.
@SISSI_LU Жыл бұрын
Ha thanks for commenting early 😀 the part about reducing the headroom isn’t because of the rangefinder design but more so for the composition of the image itself. After using the tip, I found that the square Polaroid photo looks more “balanced” with lesser head space.

Just one tip: You are looking at the flip out screen of the camera you're using to record (I think?). Look directly into the lens when you're talking to the camera. 🙂 It's hard to get used to, I'm sure! But it will definitely improve the intimate connection with your viewers.

For the technically minded, Polaroid is what is called a non-masked process. Colour negative (print) film is known as masked - it incorporates masks. That is one reason why Polaroid has de-saturated colours. Also, Polaroid is balanced for DAYLIGHT, because, guess what? There's no Auto White Balance with film!!! So basically, ask yourself, how contrasty is my subject? Is the daylight OK or too cold? Use flash to fill-in nearby subjects, even outside. Alternatively, you could just blast away, ignore everything, and be "creative".
