This is one of my favorite games of all time, and I really like the way Rue and Mint's stories intertwine. I have heard that it was intended to be a children's game, but Rue's story is so dark and sad that I feel a lot of it would go over a kid's head. The game is extremely easy, so a least a kid wouldn't find it too hard. But it feels like the story is more important than the gameplay. Mint's story is more comedic and silly, and she's cute and funny with her sarcasm and wit. But there is a heroic side to her as well, even if it hidden behind her arrogance. Once she realizes what is really going on and what the stakes are, she truly gets angry about the villain's scheming. It is almost a story of growth for her, while for Rue it is a journey to find himself. In the end, the character you are playing gets to be the hero, so it isn't exactly the same story from a different point of view. But I get the impression that in the end, the two have become good friends despite their differences. This game.reslly needs a remake, or a sequel, or both. Unfortunately I doubt that will ever happen.

I got Threads of Fate when it came out. I'm actually doing another run through of it lately! New Game+ carries over your stats and items, which makes the relatively short stories highly replayable. Rue's story gets rather deep; while Mint's is comical mayhem. Gameplay suffers at spots from platforming and hit detection problems; but the overall experience is still fun. It is a charming game, and a real lost gem!

I'm still trying to get that complete run, all these years later.

@@Omnibus4Everyone What is this "not playing Tactics Ogre for 5 seconds" you're talking about 🤷

There are so many gems in the PlayStation library. One of my favorites is Omega Boost. The intro cinematic is so cheesy and corny but it's fun. It's certainly a game I'd recommend. This one looks interesting, though. I like the idea of action RPGs, especially the ones released at times where turn based combat was more prominent. It reminds me of Final Fantasy Adventure for the game boy. It plays a lot like Zelda, but certain mechanics like level system is still present.
