ABOUT SUPERSTORE
America Ferrera and Ben Feldman star in the hilarious workplace comedy "Superstore," about a unique family of employees at a supersized megastore. "Superstore" centers around Amy (Ferrera), who recently was promoted to be the store manager and is the glue holding the place together, and Jonah (Feldman), a dreamer determined to prove work doesn't have to be boring. Their fellow associates include the sardonic Garrett (Colton Dunn), the sweet and clueless Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom), and the perpetually dismissed Sandra (Kaliko Kauahi). Also on the team are Glenn (Mark McKinney), who stepped down as manager in an attempt to have more family time, and Dina (Lauren Ash), the aggressive assistant manager who enforces Cloud 9 policy with an iron fist. Mateo (Nico Santos) was also part of the team, most recently as the self-promoted floor supervisor, until being detained due to his undocumented status.
Superstore is available now on Peacock, the new streaming service from NBCUniversal. Watch thousands of hours of hit movies and shows, plus daily news, sports, and pop culture updates. Stream now on Peacock.

Touched on, and satirically eviscerated real world problem. Sharp writing. Just from this clip set for example - "I've never profiled before. Well, except racially". So aware of speaking to issues in modern life.

I love this show because it doesn't make me feel like a failure for working retail as an adult. Is it ideal? Hell no, but I'm making the best of a not so great situation
@bonbon5717

I don’t get why there’s stigma around working retails. I used to work retail before pursuing my studies, and now working in tech. Retail is still the hardest job I’ve ever experienced myself because dealing with people is exhausting and I wouldn’t consider it a failure. You are doing great with your life making an honest living 😊

without retail workers the world would practically stop turning, i have so much respect for you guys, not something to feel like a failure for
@loveverythingbooks

Yeah, same in a way. I hadn't watched Superstore since before my mum started working in retail. She basically pulled a Jonah. She'd been working as a physicist for many years, and then started teaching high school, but never completed her teaching certification and dropped out to go work in retail. The reactions I get when I tell that story are always laced with either pity or condescension. But rewatching the show these past few weeks made me realise there really is no shame in it, and as I look at myself and others my age, I wonder if some of us wouldn't be so much happier if we just allowed ourselves to do "menial" work that we might actually enjoy instead of destroying ourselves in a soul-sucking academic setting.

Never feel like a failure for working retail! You have a job and you're earning wages like most adults have to in order to live. Like most jobs, it can be hard at times (especially dealing with rude customers or bad management), but it's definitely nothing to look down on. I agree that this show makes retail workers feel seen and validated. How many millions of people work these kinds of jobs! Whether they're there temporarily or for the long-haul, there's no shame in it.

All the pining in season 3 and all their adventurous episodes, especially while Jonah is still dating Kelly, are my absolute favourite. But the night on the golf course just has a very very special place in my heart. Such a powerful couple and even though it upsets me a little, i am very glad we got the slowburn and pining. We also got a working relationship and they had their happy ending. My heart is full of live for Simmosa and simmosa only, the one ship that barely ever let me down (California part 1 and 2 do not exist in this house) !
@mistermastermind528

But the breakup made their ending more satisfying. And I feel for Jonah's journey after the breakup. He tried to distract himself by focusing on work (applying for floor manager), feeling lost and unsure (took a job interview that was never going to work out), etc. That was relatable to me.
@clarita294
@clarita294 Жыл бұрын
@@mistermastermind528 yep, absolutely agree. It made perfect sense in the whole and their story and it all felt very natural and not too forced. I don’t like that they broke up, but it had to happen for the sake of the show and the creators made the best of it, showing Jonah in such a weird place not really feeling he belongs anywhere and realizing he has nowhere to go, which, then again, naturally led to their happy ending and made it even better and even more logical that they‘d end up together. Still, in my head, I would have loved them to just stay together. But obviously, for the progress of the show and their character development and all that, the breakup really made sense. Like you said, them getting back together at the very end made it even more satisfying than if we had known they’d stay together through seasons 4 to 6. And, like I said, it made it all a lot more special seeing them admitting, once again, how much they needed each other. Also, if they had never broken up, Jonah probably never would have said what we all knew from the very first time he could’ve just left - he could have gone anywhere, could have done anything he wanted to do but he decided to stay and wait for Amy, no matter what. I think I lost my point, but I believe you’ll get it :) I just love the show and them as a couple so much. And it’s also pretty late for me and English is not my first language and I can’t bother to proofread- hope this still makes sense

As someone who became a Superstore fan the night the pilot aired, I think it ended at just the right time. I will never understand why people want a show to be dragged out. Six seasons is a successful run for any broadcast network show. I was relieved when the announcement came because the show just wasn't quite the same without America, but I doubt she had any plans to return full-time by that point. Anyway, the show ending when it did allowed the writers to write the perfect ending and to leave people so fond of the show. It's better to leave the people wanting more rather than "oh, that show is STILL on??"
@IndieCindy3
@IndieCindy3 8 күн бұрын
@@lumarium that was true for America, who at the time was producing and directing Gentefied for Netflix (a year after the show ended she would be cast in Barbie.) As far as I know, the rest of the cast never expressed a desire to leave and while some of them did work on side projects during the break in filming between seasons, none of them were in such high demand that they would quit a show. In fact, as much as I love America and I know the cast is like a big family, I got the sense that they were sad/upset about the show ending due to her exit. America was, after all, the big "name" actor of the show. And while the show was successful, it wasn't a massive hit so the-powers-that-be likely didn't see a point in the show going on for much longer. I was glad it ended when it did, but I also realize that this was many people's livelihood...everyone from the actors to the crew, writers, etc. But, alas, all good things must come to an end.

Just started watching this in March 2023 and these two made hooked me up. It's just the most realistic romance. I always, always love slow burn romance. And this one is beautifully written even though their love storyline is very little compared to other sitcoms main lead. I believe that as much as Jonah's crazy about Amy, it is the same for her. It's just that she was married when they first met and I'm glad they didn't made her jumped straight into a serious relationship with Jonah after her divorce. They made it more realistic and in every episodes leading to them being together you can see that they got more comfortable with each other. I love their crazy adventures, their accents scenes and all the faces they make to each other. It's just 100% pure love. Aaahhhh I wished that I watched this sooner. And I wished there are more season for us to binge watch. How nice it would be if we can get scenes of them being a married couple raising up the kids. With their different personality, its going to be hilarious. But oh well, gotta survive on what we have left with. Dear Jonah and Amy, we love you! Thank you for being the best couple on TV.

It felt real, they did representation so well, dealt with so many real problems that everyone faces, and the sitcom slow burn romance so done so well, I mean they had to create non existing problems when America left during last season. I am currently watching s6, ik Jonah and Amy end up together but I bawled when she left for California without Jonah.

That is probably my one and only gripe about the show...once Amy and Jonah got together, the writers stopped writing for them as a couple. It was so annoying. They could've had tons of cute moments stealing a kiss or two on the floor or in the breakroom. I'm not saying I wanted them to have constant PDA, but they could've pulled it off. Instead the writers were like, "Okay, they're together, that checks off that box" and it's like they never thought beyond them getting together.
