Fully agree with all of them. I don't want chat in league to get removed cause it's funny on 4fun games but muting chat is objectively better for climbing. I've always done all of this in Ranked. The reason why I'm hardstuck is because I never fully commit to the learning, I'd end up switching roles or champs eventually and I play like 4 league games a month atm with life and stuff so that's far from ideal. But I've seen the biggest boosts to my overall gameplay and rank when I play following these rules. The only thing I'd add is making playing a habit, get specific times to play. For me it'd be saturday evening usually, I make sure to be hydrated, well rested, not be hungry, etc. It makes the overall experience more pleasant. I'd rather sleep than to play league while sleep deprived knowing I won't perform and therefore not enjoy it anyways. If you're not enjoying the game it ain't worth it.

I agree on the chat mute. But! Sometimes its also good to be the one to write positive things in chat and keep the mentality from your allys in a good Space. My last game my top sadly lost early a lot and started to show tilting behavior. I randomly started to write stuff like: "you got this, we can do this, farm and get some gold, we need you in the game" and so on. And my top stayed and we even won the game because they carried late game!

Disabled chat is so real. Sometimes it's tempting to give strategies in chat to see if your team coordinates or help someone who doesn't know what to build, it's good when they listen and its awful when they don't. It's not your job to teach others how to play. Just focusing on what you alone can do it's enough and more consistent.

I was listening to this after stopping myself from a tilt q and i realized something. I wonder if that study you mentioned about single/multitasking mentioned anything about different results with ADHD. I myself, and a lot of other league/dota players I know have it and multitasking is the only thing that keeps me from tunnel visioning. Its harder to do one thing for me than it is to check 2 or 3 at once - and yes that means there are some macro mistakes because i wasn't paying attention - but far less than the mistakes I make tunnel visioning. To combat this, i mained Shen support. I like support because I'm constantly checking minimap and ward spots and just MOVING - what helps me most though is trying to minimize the additional distractions to small, potentially inconsequential, but helpful things like - figuring out the confidence of your laner. Play the player and the game, just focus on the game as much as you can. It has helped my map awareness SO much and improved so many micro mistakes I made because i was so focused on doing one thing right. Shen particularly fits my style of engage support that requires map awareness a bit more than others. For example, at one point i was so bad at csing and I tried to get better at it consistently by making sure I had every single last hit I could find - I also pushed way too aggressively many times, died, came back to try again - ended up getting way under average because I wasnt thinking about wave management or my positioning nearly as much or at all. When i started focusing on wave management and mid lane, my cs just skyrocketed because i had to relearn wave management - at the same time as I was learning Kassadin for the same reason as Shen, I want to get better at something I suck at, which in Kass's case is still picking into counter matchups and AD laners. The double focus here is learning how to macro a late game. Its about tricking myself a bit in order to focus better. This may not be universal advice but if it helps someone i thought Id throw it out there.

Below plat I’d recommend turning off pings too. Most of the time people will either try to ping you away from where you should be going or just use pings to flame you. It puts peer pressure on you that you don’t need. Definitely use pings yourself to remind team when objectives are spawning or if you plan on rotating to a side lane to farm or of anything else you need to communicate. But honestly, I had the most success turning off chat AND pings and pretending my teammates were bots/NPCs

Here's my little addendum to the "don't surrender" tip: In Gold or below, players THROW ALL THE TIME. Just because someone is fed/ahead, they still have to play out fights correctly. Plus, most of the time, we fall behind in games our teams are playing scaling picks like Kayle, Smolder, etc.

The only time I reached the rank I wanted was when I had limited myself to the number of ranked games I played. Best out of 3 was always my plan. After, I play normal games or switch the account. If I win all 3 I might play just one more but otherwise stick to 3. I know its a pain we all want to play more but trust me! Limit yourself that is the single best thing you can do.
@edanshields71588 ай бұрын
On a serious note, the number 1 rule i had that helped me climb much higher than I've ever reached is: Always stay calm and focus on your own gameplay. You cant control other players so just do your absolute best. Sometimes you'll get bad teammates but if you keep focusing on yourself, you will surely improve and climb over the long run. And ultimately... just try and have fun, don't lose yourself in the game

Perfect! Few people talk about the points that really matters. Most people always ask about the "best champion" to climb, but there isn't one only and plain answer. This video is awesome. I have been trying to figure out how to optimize my performance. All these rules you mentioned I have come to absorb and apply the hard way over the past few months. A month ago I disabled chat because I felt that was holding me back the most. I would 100% re-que based off tilt after seeing what my team mates & other team litters the chat with. After some trial and error, I climbed from Bronze to Gold...and gold has been my objective since I have started the game. It was the fastest climb I have accomplished in my 4 years of playing. Hard stuck Bronze/Iron to Gold. Is it the best rank? Not at all. Is it progress? Yeah! Mental performance feels like 90% of the game. Mental performance really is the key to many things.

I actually keep chat on. I feel like I've saved a few of my games but calming down some of my teammates. Last week I was adc Ezreal. My top and mid were losing hard but me and support were doing fairly well. Top was being super toxic so I muted them and pushed on knowing the game was gonna be 4v5 from then on. My Akshan mid however, he was tilted as well..but he wasn't toxic which I can appreciate. I just told him "It's okay Akshan, you're behind for now but this is still winnable. Our top has given up so far but you can still comeback." He was like 0/5 at one point I believe. He replies with "Yes sir" keeping a cool head. Idk about anyone else but whenever I calm a teammate down and I see they are actively trying to win despite having lost lane so hard, it makes me wanna win even more. We did end up winning tho, Akshan and I carried. One of my most fun games tbh.

Tip from a psychologist on the second Rule - no distractions: I know that a lot of players enjoy music during their game but while it may feel like you're getting "into the zone" with it, it's actually still a distraction to your brain. Your brain will have to seperate between the melodies (+lyrics perhaps), the in game sounds (pings, announces, SFX) while also focusing visually on what's happening in the game. To your brain, it's just as exhausting and as complex of a task as reading a heavy text and categorizing the information in school. I'm not here to tell anyone what to do, but if you want to stick to what was said in the video, maybe do yourself a favour and stop spotify during your sessions in order to focus SOLELY on the games ahead. I think finding the time of day to climb is important. I live in the midwest of the USA, and have found that my win rate is far better between 11pm and 7am. My experiment consisted of spending one week playing as many games as possible a day in each of these time slots: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am. I was Iron 2 when I started. Week 1, 11pm-7am: 48 games, 55% winrate Week 2, 7am-3pm: 45 games, 48% winrate Week 3, 3pm-11pm: 47 games, 46% Winrate During week 2 & 3, friday and saturday had bad loss streaks, while week 1 I didn't see that. I couldn't maintain a schedule where I played from 11pm to 7am. So I only play ranked from 7pm-3am, and sit as a 52% winrate, and currently Gold 3.

The only things i know is that i don't like some champions but... i like all roles... This season i decided to stop playing jungle (because my peformance on jungle are too variable and i don't like the new map for jungling) and i played 7 time support, 7 time top lane, 2 time adc and i have 68,8% WR on 16 game... I think the main reason for me that i will never climb is that i don't care not climbing, i don't have an objective, i'm just here for fun. Hope it helped you :)

I think is also important to play in order to improve rather than climbing. If you lose a game and don't even bother to analyse what you did wrong or what things you could have done differently then what is the point? Even if you win a ranked game I bet there might have been instances where you could have played it better. In the end, if you win or lose a game, as long as you learnt something from that game about your mechanics/macro/champion then it was worth it.

@brocolive195010 ай бұрын
2:19 : the maths is off by the very simple fact that the LP gains aren't a constent, but evolve with your MMR/LP values which themselves evolve with your numbers of wins/losses, and hence winrate. Quantity actually matters, if you lose and win many games, your LP gains will stabilise and become more favourable, if you only climb, your LP will just keep climbing faster than your MMR and hence your LP gains will decrease and you'll end up winning less by winning more. Basically, it all evens out in the end, and winrate doesn't matter. Winrate is no indicator for the quality of your games. Winrate is just for show, it doesn't account for the level of your team and opponents. There is no such indicator. The only thing that matters is your overall performance and skill, the MMR system will just rank you where you're supposed to be at *in the long run.* If you don't play enough games, you're not gonna reach that spot you're supposed to be at, and the bigger the climb, the more games needed. So yes, quantity matters. 1 game doesn't make a difference. 1% games don't make a difference either. Same for each 1% WR. You can very much climb with 50% WR. However, he's right about the importance of a balance between quality and quantity. Both matter. You have to be able to play at a level that is higher than your rank in order to climb to that level, and for that, you need to play at your best, and play to improve. Improving is more important than winning. It's what makes you climb in the long run. It's what makes you win. Winning on its own is not gonna make you improve.

Not if you use average numbers
@brocolive195010 ай бұрын
@@nillnoir Let's say we're, at +20-28, on average. For starters, that's pretty shit LP gains. That means your LP is way higher than your MMR. That can happen if you climb too fast. But anyway, at +20-28, if LP gains were constant, you would never be able to climb with any winrate below 58.33%, we're not talking 100 or 1000 games, but unreachable infinity, where the more you play, the more your rank drops. That just doesn't happen, people with 58.33% winrate end up climbing at some point. At some point, maybe about 20-30 games, your MMR catches back to your LP and your LP gains stabilise and you start climbing again. The lower your WR gets with each loss, the more your MMR catches up to your LP and the more your LP gains stabilise, and when you're at +20-20 with 58.33% WR (average +3.334LP/game), from a +20-28 with 67% WR (average +4.17LP/game), you still climb, just 25% slower, not infinitely slower like your example would imply. The same applies to dropping to 62 or 61% WR, where you'd get to somewhere in the middle, weighed towards that 25% slower climb, not towards infinitely slower (which results in crazy values like +100 to +500 games, but that's just wrong). And 58.33% WR is much easier to achieve than 67% WR. Eventually you're gonna face players closer to your level and your winrate will drop. Now let's say we're still at +20-28, but LP gains aren't constant. If you get a loss, your MMR catches up a bit to your LP, hence you're now at +21-28. If you had won, your MMR would be further away from your LP and you'd be at +19-28. Your loss, compared to your win, gives you, on average, +2LP times your winrate for each following game. If you play about 20 games, your loss will be completely negated, as if it never happened, and the time spent to get at that rank, with or without the loss, would be about the same, as long as you play enough games with a consistent winrate. And if your winrate drops, instead of 20 games, it might take 40 to negate that loss, but it still gets negated in the end after enough games. That's not exactly how it works though, the maths actually has to be much more complicated than that, but those examples can give you an idea of how losses and winrate don't really matter that much in the long run.

@@brocolive1950 The calculations are done with average numbers on a given set of games with an assumed win rate. Not sure what you're confused about but try it with +-25lp the conclusion is the same.
@brocolive195010 ай бұрын
@@nillnoir +-25LP does make more sense, because that means MMR≈rank, hence the LP gains shouldn't change too much, and you should also be closer to 50% WR. If you're above 50% WR, you climb, if you're below, you fall. At this point, every % of WR makes a bigger difference the closer you are to 50%, reaching to infinity of games required to climb at +-XLP with 50% WR, as your average LP gains per game get closer to 0.

I got emerald for the first time in my life, and I'm almost ranking up to diamond. The amount of trolls, griefers, toxic players and hateful people I have encountered is scary. Guess I'll stick up to emerald this season 😂

If anyone feels like they lack brain cells, try foing little breaks after every game as well play in the morning/day and not midnight Also your point of building utility build instead of carry build when behind is genious, thank you for the idea!

One of the worst decisions riot ever made was making 4 “yes” votes enough to surrender, so many times my team surrenders cause they think they are too bad to come back

@PlayerFORgamev Yeah no kiddding. All these vids about climbing talk about not surrendering. It is going to take me 15-20 minutes to lose this game. I could have already been in a winning game by the time I lose this one. It is horrendous in low elo because people have no idea how to win the game. They just want to aram all day and night.
@iliasdinia6475 Жыл бұрын
@@herpderp66Then you will actually never know if you could have carried that game :) Im talking from experience that we probably both had, so many games seemed unwinnable and at some point they were. Im talking games with naked nexus for my team, and a lot of team mates with 10+ deaths. Like once there was a Samira Taric botlane, 2/13 and 0/11. I was Kled in toplane, and I ruled that game despite getting sometimes smashed by the fed enemy members, kept hostage everyone who wanted to surrender until I broke the enemy nexus :D So just surrendering one and going to the next, that means you just dont want to improve at the game because as soon as it gets a little bit difficult you're already thinking about giving up, then team mates do some bullshit like contest a dragon they should not contest they all die and that would be your trigger XD
@herpderp66 Жыл бұрын
@@iliasdinia6475 More about time efficiency. If enemy has a late game team comp and you are behind just move on. Some times you just get stat checked. If I see at least 3 good players on my team (counting me) I will stay in it.
@Astroqualia Жыл бұрын
@PlayerFORgamev and this is why you're stuck in your elo. Literally telling my team I will carry and do when 4 people wanted to surrender has given me at least an entire tier increase in total amount of times it's happened. People pick late game champs then cry when they lose early game, refuse to farm to get the items that makes their champ shine. It's ridiculous.

I started on a fresh account with +35 gains and after 80 games because I'm around 47 48 % wr I get -15 and -31 it's hilarious, I'm trying to do 5/6 games per day on this account and try to win every single one but it's very painful, playing since S7 and never experimented that before, used to play in D1 Master 2 years and cameback recently but now cannot climb in emerald 4 plat elo.. what about when you are still performing your best, but still getting stomped, and lose streak. there is no way to win in a game where you have feeders and trolls every round, good luck trying to carry against a fed team, and if its routine no way to break that cycle, i think that is more of an area that you need to acknowledge address and tackle rather than what is objectively established, that has no reign over various range of probability.

Simply give yourself a pat on the back for playing well, do your best and move on to the next game. Some games you can't win but you have to play them like you can. It's a learning experience.
