I was DM for a very fun low magic campaign. We wanted to do a DnD version of the All Guardsmen 40K thing. We limited classes and subclasses to nonmagical. Fighters Barbs, and Rouges with no obviously magic effect. We made the world a post apocalyptic place where a magical industrial revolution had already taken place. We were 2000 years post apocalypse so the ruins were cool but it wasn't like the old timers remembered. Magic was what cause the apocalypse so it was super taboo. Plus magic over a certain level had a chance to cause magic sickness... just the short term, long term madnesses. The PCs were Guardsmen for NPCs whos job it was to hunt down and neutralize magic users, magic items, and magical effects. It was so much fun. As the PCs pogressed, they broke away from the Guardsmen organization pursuing their own goals with a better understanding of magic than common folk. There were looking to undo the damage ofagic and what was causing the sickness and level cap on magic. I made the world very wild too... If you were not in a major city or on a major road there was lots of creatures and critters and mystery. We had a blast.

Rime's Binding Ice is legendary, it's seen a lot of use at my table and I can say confidently that it can completely shift the course of combats especially in enclosed spaces

For the Vegan player character the following: dried beans, lentils of various types, nuts, hardtack bread, and if they are not ultra strict Vegan Raw Honey.

I agree with you about the whole vegan thing. It doesn’t matter. The spell Good berries gets around this if you want a by the book fix. Don’t fixate on small details that can ruin an epic campaign!!

Yea, I'm glad he answered my question. I think having a couple maggfin plants for my character to eat, plus a lot of his other suggestions are a cool thing to. It's nothing crazy, and why not. The rest of my players sure want more realism, but at the end of the day we're all having a good time still.

Love your videos. They have genuinely changed the way I DM. I would love to see a third installment of the plot webs or some video with, strangely, how to make low level D&D engaging for both the players and the DM while also being able to hint at the long game with it! Either way, keep it up!

Plot webs 3 is on the bucket list. I'll have to put your second idea on the list too. I've never really thought about how I foreshadow for later on in a campaign but it's definitely an important skill to have

As a wizard at heart My favorite under rated spells by level are 1 expeditious retreat, 2 Nystul's magic aura, 3 Life transference, 4 Hallucinatory Terrain, 5 Mislead, 6 Guards and wards, 7 Whirlwind, 8 Mighty Fortress, 9 Psychic scream.

As far as the vegan thing goes, as a DM I might make it somewhat challenging but plenty of knights and especially monks took a lot of oaths that put weirder behavioral restrictions on them, heck veganism is just a slightly more restrictive version of say giving up dairy for lent and some of those days being non meat days of the week according to medieval Catholicism, but I suspect that there are plenty of folks that don't trust mages so again it can be fun to make what the character chooses to be challenging but it shouldn't be overly punishing.

Hey sir, just had my session one. Myself and my player we had a chat, and things were cool for today. Even figured that he can have vegan armor in the game world, cause why not lol. And the rest of us are happy. Then i saw your video just now, and im glad with the choice i made! Ill keep you guys updated how the campaign goes. The current quest for the group is trying to save the local blacksmiths son from a necromancer in the area! Being a Dm has certainly been fun for me so far!

One thing I have to say about the person asking about scheduling issues is that they should allow all the players to attend if they can, and not just limit the number to 5. It would feel bad to be whoever was left out and make it much more likely that the player would skip future sessions. After all, the DM has already told them that they either weren't needed or wanted before. Having more players might make things take longer or make the DM have to rebalance the encounters, but it's far better than upsetting people and potentially losing players. Seriously think about it. If you have ever told someone that they can't play, then you might have nobody but yourself to blame if they don't bother to play when you want them to.

Thanks for answering my question! I didnt think about how the players can pick favorites with DMs, which can be a reality for some groups. I appreciate the strengths that each DM would bring if their heart is in their craft. I do agree that it may take 2 months or so before you can DM again, but in the meantime you can be having a blast as a player for majority of the games. I guess it depends on what percentage of time people enjoy being a DM vs. a player. For some people, they prefer to be a DM 90+% of the time and this would not work for them. Very interesting

Druid used to not use metal anything
@darcyw15610 ай бұрын
I remember that. It was dumb back then too. I have been playing since BECMI, so I have seen some changes.
@PGIFilms10 ай бұрын
The "No-Metal armor/shields" restriction in BECMI/1E/2E stems from the Druid's emphasized theme as being as much a part of the natural world as possible. That their connection to nature (rather than a specific deity for clerics/specialty priests) is the source of their magical powers and spellcasting. Druidic magic is drawn from the living world (plants, animals, fungi, etc.) which is why they have no ability to Turn Undead and have/little/no access to cleric/priest spells that create/control/affect undead creatures. Natural clothing/armor made from once-living things (linen, cotton, wool, hide/leather, fur, etc.) do not interfere with a druids magical connection to the nature that surrounds them. Neither does small amounts of metal/stone such as a buckle/fastener on a bag or piece of clothing, the blade of a scythe or sickle, or the nails and banding of a wooden shield, but metal armor and shields do because they are not made from something that was once alive and act as an inorganic barrier to their connection. In the early BECMI/1E/2E games there wasn't a big emphasis on fey creatures (fairies, hags, etc.) and the feywild demiplane as being an underlying force behind nature/druidic magic. When you add in the emphasis of fey creatures of later editions, keeping the restrictions on Druids using metal armor would actually be more relevant since several fey creatures in both their original source mythologies and D&D lore have an aversion or weakness to certain metals, particularly wrought iron. This could be inferred that a druid's magical abilities in the later editions are drawn from the feywild or have fey origins which is why iron/steel armor is avoided by druids and the many fey creatures (fairies, pixies, brownies, sprites, hags, etc.) often depicted in non-metal armor.

Guys! Spells like cloud of daggers dont just trigger twice! Pls dont recommand stuff like this! Same with web and countless other spells. Bg3 isnt dnd5e🙏
@enterthedungeon10 ай бұрын
Rules as written, it triggers twice. Once upon a creature first entering and then once at the beginning of the turn. However, like I said in the video, I think many DMs would rule that it only triggers once. But I still hold it as an excellent spell regardless.
@jomohunter464910 ай бұрын
@@enterthedungeon the spell enters the creatures space not the other way around. I think it is confirmed on how to read raw with this wording. I never said that it is a bad spell you just need to work with forced movement so apply the dmg it does more often. Not a maximum of twice but just once on a turn. So depending on how many pcs there are cloud of daggers could trigger 10 times before the creature starts its turn in it.
