Out of all the amazing songs on this project, this one is my favorite

A few years ago when I was fresh out of highschool I was chillin with some millenials just shootin the shit. My friend started talking about the iraq war because he had some kind of hyperfixation on bush era america. The people we were hanging with started talking about how people just signed up for the military thinking theyd be in and out with a path to a degree but that was like, not at all the case. I sometimes find it hard to sympathize with people who join the military because I'm someone whose family is from a place thats been heavily affected by its presence (especially considering most of the people that do end up joining are middle class and not poor contrary to popular belief), but then I remember how heavily this shit gets pushed on highschool aged kids. Anyway this is my favorite underscores song and I hope one day we never have to see a single more recruitment table at a high school or college ever again.

I don't understand how they're not more well known?! I found "Cops and Robbers" on I think Apple Music's "New in Alternative" playlist some time ago and just loved it. Now this new album and they're all bangers. The beat, style, lyrics, drums - everything. It's incredible. I really thought they would have more streams!

this song always makes me cry for whatever reason. I just relate to that feeling of confusion and concern surrounding others' decisions to join the military a little too hard. I've always been one of those people who're helplessly devoted to understanding others, but often times it's not possible. and when life is on the line, that confusion is all the more palpable. it's poignant in a way that fills my tears with fury and helplessness

Funniest kid at my high school went and joined the marines. He came back after 1 year of training, and he didn't even crack a smile when he came to visit before deployment. He was talking to our teacher (he was a Vietnam War vet)who looked so proud, and the funny upperclassman I remembered looked like an automoton
