Hi OAA! First of all, thank you very much for your lessons. These enlighten us a lot! Now, I actually have some exemples of sentences that might sound weird, but I assume that they are all correct. Here it goes ! - Are you two discussing something that we should be made aware of ? - It’s a rule I cannot not agree with. - These are some good things that you can take a look at. - He had no one to go with. - There a couple of things to be careful with. - Which attraction do you prefer working at ? - Which attraction do you prefer to work at ? - Who were you traveling with ? - What are you interested in ? - Who do you get on with ? Have a good one and I’m looking forward to watching the next video! All the best!

This video is super awesome! Thanks alot. I have always wondered about words repeated twice in a row and tried to avoid them in formal writing or school essays thinking they were wrong because, u know, and as you said, they really look weird when written down😂😂😂 Here is a sentence that i find quite strange. "The papers in his office were in such a mess, they took weeks to sort out." I find 'they took weeks to sort out' really strange. It seems to me that the papers are the subject since neither the passive nor any pronouns were used but I really could not imagine papers sorting themselves out. And I'd be super grateful if you correct any typos or ...some weird unnatural sentences ,lol, I have used here. :)

Hi there! I always enjoy your videos. They’re interesting 👍🏼. As a foreign English learner I think this is actually a Grammar lesson. I learned the use of have as the Causative... (when someone else does something for you). I’d really like a special lesson for advanced learners. 👍🏼. Believe it or not, prepositions are kind of difficult for some advanced students... like me 😣😣😣. Regards and congrats!!! 👍🏼🙋🏻♀️✋🏼😊

HI Rosalba, glad you enjoyed the lesson! Yes, it is certainly a grammar lesson! Thanks for the suggestion, we will try to do more advanced grammar lessons with prepositions in the future. For now, have you seen our other lesson on prepositions? You can find it here: www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/prepositions-to-in-at.

Marie, Oli, thanks for replying my suggestion. I love watching your videos and learn new things. The topic I strongly need is about complex prepositions, collocations and idioms which are not common... I’m planning to take the CAE test and, hopefully, get a good grade 👍🏼. Thanks a million 🙋🏻♀️

My question is why is the friend saying I SHOULD instead of YOU SHOULD.....please help me make a video for sentences like these

@Oxfordonlineenglish15 жыл бұрын
Hi Abhishek, yes it's correct to use 'is'. Here, you use 'mine' as a possessive in place of something like 'My home'. So the correct sentence would be: 'My home is a hut beside the Ganga,' the same as it would be, 'Mine is a hut beside the Ganga'.

Can you please make a video on how to recognize Phrases and clauses in long sentences with many commas like the ones below. 1. One of these days, maybe soon, this trade war is going to end. 2. It will be a truly multipolar world, with Asia as one of its most domi-nant regions. 3. . Since the 2008 global financial crisis, emerging Asia’s combined GDP has grown 188%, versus 19% in the U.S. and 13% in the EU, according to the IMF. 4. Asia already has more billionaires, at 827, than second-place U.S. at 585, according to the 2018 Forbes billionaires list. 5. Without any grand design or pretense of shared values, Asia has become one of the world’s most economically integrated regions, second only to Europe, despite lacking a regional free trade agreement.

Hi Babbu, the 'tense' is the time in which you are talking. Past, present, future, etc. The 'sentence' is what you write before a period, like this. Here are some lessons to help you with more tenses: www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/english-verb-tenses and sentences: www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/sentence-structure.

Dear OOE teacher how can you use two past perfect tenses in a sentence at the same time like you did in ' All the medicine he had had (had) had little effect. Shouldn't we leave out that (had).
@Oxfordonlineenglish15 жыл бұрын
Hi Deven, thanks for sharing your question. The sentence in the way you wrote it can be correct, but the reasoning behind 'All the medicine he had had had had little effect' is explained on the lessons's page: www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/strange-sentences.
@shukladeven5 жыл бұрын
@@Oxfordonlineenglish1 Sorry but there is just script of the lesson. there isn't any further explanation. I think we need some context in this sentence to make it apparent that these two very events are happening before an event in the past. Like we can use this sentence in an indirect sentence.
